i had a close look at my last one and i mean a really really really close look and decided i was being ripped off - i raised it with sw££££ and they agreed they they were - "were not being fair" and have promised to amend my bill

have you been charged the most amount of units at the highest rate?

Depends how many units you use. But it does seem backwards that discounts should be given to heavier users.

E-ON contacted me early in the year, as they thought my bill was wrong. I was asked to do two meter readings 1 hour apart, they said that they had over charged by getting the night rate swapped with the day rate. E-ON then said they would contact me again the next day to inform me of how much I'd get back.

Well the nice lady said it would be over a £100 but would resend my bill and a total over the next few days. They actually sent be re-calculated bills for the past several years and If I remember is was nearly £400 in total.:)

As I said they contacted me , I had no idea I was paying too much as my bill is normally quite low anyway.

I must admit that it is something I never check :$ It's always round about the same price so I just pay it.

My late Dad was with E,ON/Powergen. Up until January 2008 they hadn't read the meter since March 2005 and sent estimated bills everytime. Reason they never read the meter was my Dad was hard of hearing and in a wheel chair so when Siemens called to read the meter he would not hear them or not get to the door in time. I'd read the meter and leave the card out for them, but they'd either ignore it or I was too late leaving the card out as they'd all ready called back. Around this time last year they sent a letter asking for a meter reading to update their files. I read the meter and telephoned it through as the last one that I'd sent back in their freepost envelope had been ignored. They used the readings round the wrongway and we ended up with a quarterly bill for £3,300. (The house is empty and we only use the electricity one day a week for a couple of hours, working on the house). I telephoned them and they came and read the meter for themselves. They telephoned me to tell me it was all their mistake, including telling me my Dad had two meters when he only has one. Not having received a bill since this time last year, we got them out again to read the meter as we want to sell the house. Bill turns up, another £1,000 added to the previous £3,300.
It took me 5 hrs to sort through the bills to realise what they had done and write a letter. It's been almost a week now and waiting for a reply.:bang:
