I decided, in all my wisdom, that I’m going to start a 365. I will be visiting a lot of different places this year and I’ve got a really heavy schedule so there’ll never be a lack of images.. I can’t imagine. I made this decision at about 1am last night, after a couple of drinks and a severe lack of sleep. Wether it’s a good idea or not we’ll soon see.

There will be no theme (as a rule), in the images I take, just an expression of how I feel that day, or what’s on my mind, or even what the day has consisted of. Who knows? What I do know is that, this will teach me a lot that I don’t already know, about photography in general. I don’t think there’s on time I’ve picked up my camera and not learnt something new, however minimal it may be. Therefore, I assume the more I use it, the more I’ll learn.

I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do, I hope you’ll follow it or at least try. It’d mean a lot to me and give me a secondary reason to carry on with it, rather than get bored after 2 weeks and give it up.

The 1st image then..

...and I thought I was brave doing a 52. Seriously, I'm sure it will be a fantastic learning experience.

I like all of your first three. Hard choose a favorite, but #3 is strikingly original and well executed.

I'll be following this with interest. Cheers, Patrick

Morning Patrick,

I'm still waking up every day and looking forward to taking the next shot, so I think that's a positive sign :) So far, so good!

Thanks for your lovely comments. My personal Favorite is #3, that was up until yesterday's, which is here.. There is a meaning behind it which I will explain. I couldn't get on yesterday to post, but it was taken yesterday moring :D

This is the remnants of the money I left the house with last night. The result of a celebration of friendship.

Farewell to both the money I spent and more importantly, the best friend who I will miss more than I think I know, whilst he is on his travels – Enjoy them mate, and come back safe.

Well I think that you have made a really great start with your 365 so the best of luck with it, of your shots so far I think that my favourite so far is actually 1/365 since that is a really issue with me at the moment the cost of fuel. Plus you have done it really well, with good use of DOF

I was mega busy yesterday so didn't get time to edit Saturday but Friday was done and posted to my Blog when it should have been. I made a pact to get Saturday up 1st thing this morning.

Thank you very much for your comments. They are appreciated, a lot! I'm very surprised more people haven't latched onto the 1st one. I thought it woul be a very pressing issue for a lot of folk nowadays.

Thanks, Orrin.

Liking these a lot - the normal aspects of everyday life look good through your pictures.
Good luck with the rest of the project
B-)

I'm only just getting round to checking out other people's 365s, I'm really disorganised :p. I can't put my finger on why exactly but I really like number 5! I guess its just really moody/atmospheric? It's an odd title! Any reason? Number 9 doesn't do very much for me I'm afraid :(, the colours just seem very dull. Have you tried doing ny post-processing to play with lighting? Gorgeous dogs btw. :D!

You know, I've done exactly the same thing. I've just got a lot on at the moment so really only get chance to do a quick sot and upload it. I will definitely be catching up on other peoples ASAP though! Number 5 is a shot I've wanted to take for years, for personal reasons it reminds me of a wet day in France :| Peculiar, I know! The title is because the engine and all ancillaries will be getting fitted to my more classic VW Golf :)

I must admit, I dislike Number 9 BUT, I was actually stuck for something to shoot! There'll be very few like that, I promise!

Today's entry is me saying Goodbye to the bottle of Macallan I was bought for Xmas. Whisky is where it's at for me and today I felt like I needed one after going through the rigmarole of insurances all day!

Also, really liking the colours shining through the glass, that'll be getting made the most of, very soon!

Ah, oh, I was reading into it as something more sinister ie. car crash organ donor sort of thing!

Well, I don't think I could have dropped behind on this thread anymore!! I've still been shooting one a day and uploading them to my blog, which can be found here http://elbophotography.co.uk.

The past weeks entries then, I've also decided that I'll start writing my excerpts on here too! Makes it a bit more interesting!

Today, I experimented with water droplets, and some lovely colours!!

This is the 1st time I’ve done anything like this so I’m quite impressed considering it’s my 1st time. I’m definitely going to do it again, with a better set-up, you don’t even want to know how I did this, it could have been a very expensive photo, to say the least.

Same about the black line through the centre, it’s where the water ‘tray’ finishes and the cast of light starts, any suggestions on how to prevent this, let me know!!

It’s my 14th day of 365′ing, and I would think I’ve probably done about 4 days of hard work in them 2 weeks. It’s January, work is slow and everybody seems to be feeling the pinch after Christmas. I’m thankful I don’t have a lot of outgoings really, the joys of being self employed aren’t at all joyous at times. I’m managing though and I’m certainly not moaning, I’m doing things I enjoy with the spare time and I’m learning a lot about something which could provide my future income.

Here’s day 14′s entry, and quite fitting, it is..

14/365 - Time on my hands by elbo photography, on Flickr

Certainly not one of my greatest shots of the series but I literally had no time spare yesterday, after being on the phone to my phone insurers pretty much all day and then making the world aware of how terrible they are.

I promise, tomorrows will be better!

15/365 - Complaints by elbo photography, on Flickr

Here’s me again, cross eyed and bloaty cheeked! I was slightly bored yesterday, in fact, I’ve been slightly bored all week. The downside to doing my 365 at the moment is that, I don’t have any transport, well I have a bicycle but, that’s a commitment when it’s this cold outside and you don’t really have the clothes for it. If I’m off work again next week, I vow to leave the house and do my project some justice. I have a weeks worth of shots lined up, it’s just getting to the locations, which is the issue.

What I love about the 50mm is, if you leave the aperture on this thing wide open, it focuses on literally the smallest area, the effects you can get with this lens, the bokeh and DOF are just unlimited. The DOF proven on this shot, focused on literally the tip of my nose – yes both my eyes and the lens – And pretty much nothing else! I’m going to set up my light tent again shortly and have some fun I think!

As sad as it is -in some peoples eyes – for a 24yr old to still be into games and gaming. I love it, always have done, it’s a hobby. Wether it can be classed as one or not, it is. It’s not all bad, I don’t smell, I’m not fat and I have a girlfriend.

When the Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack got announced, namely ‘First Strike’. I might have got a little bit excited, First strike brings 4 new maps that should open the multiplayer game to new challenges, hopefully there will be much more opportunity for a variety of playing styles to be used. Call of Duty: Black Ops for me, lacks long range maps, First Strike should solve that. It looks promising.

When I received a phone call at about 11:45 today then, asking “Would you like me to pick up some MS points for First Strike?”, I simply said yes, a lot, over and over. Not only are they 1200 points, but Microsoft have kindly Call of Duty: Black ops’d the packaging Looks cool to me!!

Now then I just need to be patient.

The Matrix – My all time favourite trilogy.

I had the ultimate crave to watch the Trilogy again, my lovely girlfriend decided to treat me to it as a bit of a post Christmas gift. So today, we both feel like doing nothing but sitting down, drinking copious amounts of Coca Cola and eating French fries. Whilst of course, watching the Trilogy.

We’re just up to the bit where it gets awesome, you know, when you pick the DVD out of it’s case?

Today, is a good day.

I received my replacement iPhone 4 today after a long winded claim through my ‘insurance company’, so long winded, I was without a phone for 42 days. I’ve missed it more than you can imagine but now it’s back, I almost feel like I don’t need it. Ok so I can update my 365 on the fly now, in fact I can update anything on my blog, if I wish too. I can use Twitter again, without being sat in the house, I can post to Facebook (almost), and most importantly I can text and call people. Funny though, I’ve managed to do all this for 42 days (apart from text) without, really, a hitch. Sure it’s been a bit of an inconvenience but, I still have friends!

As I sit here then, with my phone sat beside me, with a text message open, awaiting a reply.. I think to myself, it’s just a phone. Now, that’s the 1st time I’ve EVER looked at any of my iPhones in such a way, I had the 1st 2G, before this country had seen them, I’ve had every model in between that 2G and my current iPhone 4, and I’ve even strayed to the other side. Not once, ever, have I said “it’s just a phone”, because, it isn’t! It’s a connection to everything possible, it’s a connection to all the social networking formats, in my pocket, so.. When will I again realise that it isn’t just a phone, and start cherishing it again like I currently do my camera?

Not an easy task to produce a photo a day for 1 year, infact it's bloody difficult - hats of to you for your efforts so far, keep it up..

It certainly isn't going to be easy at all! I have lacked inspiration on 1 or 2 now and I don't like that!! I'm in a bit of a hard place at the moment, the construction industry really is suffering this year, it seems to be effecting me ion more ways than one! Thank you for the positive comments, I appreciate it, a lot!!

Every week, or other week. My Dad dons his favourite coat and inherited flat cap, to stand on the terraces at Bloomfield Rd. He’s been a lifelong supporter of Blackpool FC a true fan, not a seasonal tag on. It runs through the veins of my family, my Mum works at the club as well. I think there’s only me that’s not quite as interested as the others! At 60, my Dad’s seen his fair share of matches, he’s seen Blackpool play tonights visitors before now as well. The most memorable of them occasions being when Blackpool beat Man utd 5-1 in 1967. 1 of only 2 or 3 victories I think, for Blackpool over the reds. Statistics are against Blackpool tonight but I’m sure my Dad will be hoping for something other than a defeat.

Ian holloway and his magical managerial skills, coupled with a surprisingly strong team might give my Dad and thousands of other fans something to be proud of!

You’d be right to think, I’ve done something like this before but, you are wrong.. in a sense.

I have, but it was not part of the 365. I have had a mad day today and I seriously lacked inspiration, going back to work for 1 day has clearly taken it’s toll on me.

3 weeks in already.. it’s going too quick this! I feel like I’m counting down the days to Christmas, or that it’s going to come quicker or something. I don’t want that, nobody wants that.

What more is there to say? It’s the 22nd day of my 365 and rather than take a picture of my house (number 22) I fancied playing with a torch.

Thanks for looking :)

There are some great shots in here! I love your picture with the torch - really cool :)
