Hi all, I'm about to update my iMac to El Capitan and wondered if anyone has had any issues with CC / Lightroom.
Thanks.

I know loads of people who have had difficulties with El crapitan not specifically lightroom

Oh right, I was hoping it would have been sorted by now and safe to install.

No problems here either I'm pleased to say

I've been running El Capitan since before release and had no issues with Lr or Ps.

10.11.2 was released yesterday, lots of bug fixes included in that.

Friend found his Topaz wouldn't work after upgrade to El capitan but that was all

I found one of my Topaz plugins didn't work but easily solved by downloading it again from Topaz.

I've had El Capitan since the first Beta release many months ago on my Macbook Pro. I haven't had any problems with the OS or any programs whatsoever.
I ran LR5 without a hitch and upgraded to LR6 a couple of months ago. Everything works as it should.

All done with no issues that I can see, thanks guys.

Good thread!
Is there a software compatibility/incompatibility list anywhere? Or is it a matter of checking each software supplier individually?
I've also gort a windows partition. Has anyone heard of any issues in those circumstances?
Cheers.

If you are using Boot Camp for your Windows partition, check that your machine is properly supported here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204048

This is particularly important if you are using Windows 7, Vista or XP.

Hi Andy,
I'm running Win 8.1 via Bootcamp on Yosemite 10.10.5. So it should be fine.
Cheers

Very disappointed with the speed of El Capitan (I don't appear to be alone on this) and dislike some of the changes it has introduced.

It will not recognise one of my external USB 3.0 HDDs although my Microsoft machine can see it fine and it is visible 'under the hood' in Apple. Looking around the web this appears not an unusual problem, unfortunately. It is one which will probably see me leave Apple behind at my next hardware change. There are too many fan boys/girls out there who see no wrong in anything that steams out of Apple but quite frankly, as a company they don't care about their customers. The fancy packaging 'form over function' rules.

Really should not have upgraded to El Crap-itan.:(

What troubleshooting steps have you tried? Have you updated to 10.11.2?

10.11.2 wasn't released when I upgraded. For the sake of a few days, I wish they would wait rather than releasing useless updates.

Despite extensive beta testing, you will always encounter new issues with software when it is released onto millions of machines.

There is probably some underlying issue that is affecting your machine and it may need some remedial action (up to and including a backup-erase-install).

One of the massive advantages that Apple had over (say) Windows is that they could put a representative of every Mac ever made in a moderate size test room. Then test new software on every legitimate hardware configuration. The MacPro broke that model because IIRC it had literally millions of possible configurations but still, it's not that hard to get a broad sample of all Macs. But pretty much every release, they screw up 3rd party storage devices. It's getting so old that it almost looks like it's deliberate.

BTW there appears to be an issue with El Cap allowing 3rd party apps to use hardware graphics acceleration on NVIDIA chipsets. That's kind of niche but it causes issues with things like PTGui. It's entirely possible it could be at the root of the "turn off hardware acceleration to make LR run faster" bug but that's a guess. However, the error appears mysteriously to have started happening in Mavericks so it's possible one of the patches broke it.

Thanks.
I've just upgraded a 2011 Macbook Pro and not had any issues with CC or Lightroom.
Can't really comment on performance as I simultaneously doubled RAM to 16GB and put an SSD in...but everything works!

All CC programs haev been fine for me. El Capitan has been a complete nightmare though. Constant issues with bluetooth/SD cards/intermittent performance spikes and crashes. It's a disgrace as far as I'm concerned. Will be reverting yo Yosemite or even Mavericks as soon as I find the time.

All ok on my MBP that's about 2 years old running LR and PS CC

I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro running El Capitan and have had zero problems with any of my software, but I always do a full backup before I install a new OS. The only problem I have is with Safari, and this is with Mavericks and Yosemite also, am now using chrome and it works great, no slow loading and stalling on web sites anymore.

The only thing I found was that I had to update to the latest version of carbon copy cloner (CCC) after I updated to el capitan. As I had purchased CCC within the time specified it was a free upgrade. To be honest the new version of CCC is much better and I can easily monitor the backups to ensure they are working. I had a period of 3 months where I thought backups were happening but they hadn't backed up. Time machine backed it all up ok.

Lightroom 6 (standalone) has been fine. Generally I'm finding things like startup a little slower. Still deciding whether to go back to my previous OS. I have a 2013 iMac.
