Anybody know of a good egg timer to modify in order to attach a camera to for panning timelapse photography?

I've seen some modified which you drill a hold in the bottom and glue in a 1/4 bolt to attach to a tripod, but then simply stick their camera on top.

Then I've seen other which have a 1/4 bolt attached to the top to fix the (small) camera, but then just put it on a table.

I'm looking for a tripod attachment bolt and a 1/4 bolt out the top. Ideally to take a medium size SLR (D7100)

Thoughts? Ideas?

Great egg timer but not sure that a hole in the bottom of this would help...:Dimage.jpg

there's a guy on ebay doing them, search panlapse, I'm tempted

I would just like to add that me and a mate got one of those panlapse egg timer units and they worked well for about 5 weeks then stopped working , I opened mine up and they are all plastic inside and it looks like the main plastic gear had worn out with the weight of the camera . so I cant say I would buy one again.

Yes that does look a better unit, though I rather wished it would go around faster rather than slower if anything.
They suggest you can stack two units to double the speed.
Having said that a 180 degree turn over 30 minutes is quite useful.
(mine hasn't actually come yet...)

First go with it, too windy to try outside but can see potential here.

Have a look at Muvi X-Lapse, very inexpensive and designed for the job. The Flow-Mow is similar but I think from memory it takes 2hrs for a 360 rather than one.
