HELLO ALL,HOPE SOMEBODY OUT THERE CAN HELP,IF POSSIBLE DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS BETWEEN THE CANON EF400MM F2.8 MK1 LENS TO THE CANON EF400MM F2.8 MK2 LENS,GOT A MK1 OFFERED,AND JUST WONDERED IF I SHOULD LOOK FOR A MK2 VERSION.ANY OFFERS OF INFO WILL BE GREATLY ACCEPTED.CHEERS PAUL

The MkII has redsigned optics with a flourite element in it.

Beware that Canon no longer supports the Mk1 for any potential repair needs.

CHEERS FOR THAT INFO,BOB.SO MAYBE I WILL HAVE TO PUT THE MK1 VERSION I WAS GOING TO BUY ON HOLD,EVEN THOUGH HE SAID I WOULD GET A 6 MONTH WARRANTY WITH IT,IF IT GOES WRONG WHO THE HELL WILL REPAIR IT IF CANON WILL NOT.CHEERS PAUL

Cheers for that info, Bob. So maybe I will have to put the Mk1 version I was going to buy on hold, even though he said I would get a 6 month warranty with it, if it goes wrong who the hell will repair it if Canon will not. Cheers Paul.

There are several third party repair outfits in the UK who'll no doubt continue to offer service whilst they have parts stocked.

cheers again bob for your info,i have posted a thread under items wanted,to see if anybody on here has a mk2 for sale or even a 500mm f4.5.i owned a mk2 400mm f2.8 3years ago,and did the fatal thing of selling it because of its size and weight.bought a sigma 300 f2.8,ex hsm,dg with a 1.4x.nice lens,good results,but...........not quite as pin sharp results as the ef400 f2.8,so as you do ,i am looking for another.cheers paul,oh buy the way bob,sorry for shouting.ha ha ha
