Well I've taken the plunge and just ordered a Nikon D200 from Park Cameras.
Its as new, in mink condition and only has 1,888 actuations all for £500! :woot: (Thanks to this forum for the link :thumbs:)

It will be here before 12 tomorrow. :love:

I had to get the CC out so hope I've not been too impulsive, especially since I've only been able to get my hands on a D300 to get a feel for the size of it and not even laid eyes on a D200. But its better than the D80 which is what I was originally looking at so I think I've done the right thing...... :eek:

Please tell me that I have :runaway:

Congratulations, I think you've done the right thing:) Good as the D80 is the step up in qualityhandling to the D200 make it the better choice at that sort of money.

Of course you've done the right thing, we have both the D80 & D200 here and I know which I prefer :clap:
Park Cameras are great too, I get most of my kit from them, but as they aren't far from me I go to the shop, never had a problem with them even when things have gone wrong, like a brand new D200 about 6 weeks after I bought it, they just gave me another brand new one.
 
Good choice with the D200! Enjoy the empty wallet and non-stop lens buying syndrome that comes with it :D
 
Sounds like a great deal, well done! You can't get better for less than a grand and it'll still be worth 200 in two years time. Can't go wrong for the price of a M&S sandwich a week rite?
 
congrats on the purchase - I actually got a new d80 for the same price so buttons to you so to speak! nah but seriously have a great time, i was shooting film only until about 3 months ago and the Dsrl has changed my life. (although still not a huge fan of the massive amounts of post processing people seem to love!)

For now I'll be using the lenses I had with my F80 which are: D mount AF Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO Macro Super lens & D mount AF Nikor 28-80mm lens.

At some point a nice prime macro lens will be on my list as well as a decent tripod amongst other things :suspect: so for now until I get used to the camera I'll stick with the lenses I've got.

I don't know about the dark side lol, more like bottomless pit :eek:

Thanks for the encouragement, you might be regretting it in the weeks to come when I start pleading for help on how to use it! :runaway:

I use mamiya and canon but I've had a few chances to use a D200 and it's luuuuurvely. :love::love:

Very good choice indeed, definately a good move. :thumbs:
 
You should definitely not be Eeeking Boo ... :eek: ... you should be Reeking with excitement and overcome with emotion ... :suspect: ... it is a stunning camera for that money and certainly will give you thousands of happy actuations ... :D ... most definitely done the right thing imhgo ... :thumbs:
