I have just got a edixa mat kadett with the waist level viewfinder. I’d like to get the eye level prism viewfinder for it too. Does anyone know if all of the edixa mat’s have interchangeable viewfinders? There’s a few on eBay but I cant seem to find anything about compatibility.
If not I’ll just buy another cheap kadett and use it for parts

I remember Edixas when they were new, but your model doesn't ring a bell. As far as Exaktas go, the same prism fitted all models save the last which was a rebadged Practica. I suspect the same is true for Edixa, but there are sites on camera history that would probably answer the question definitively.

Seems likely...

By the looks of it the kadett is a budget version without the slow shutter speeds.

Cheers for looking :). I saw those sites but as it didn’t explicitly say they could be changed I wasn’t sure. They look at the same and all seem to have the same 2 button release mechanism. Probably worth a punt at £20. There is also one other kadett on eBay with the prism viewfinder but it looks in bad condition, would probably need a lot of cleaning before I could use the parts. But again it’s there for cheap

Thinking about it, it probably makes more sense to get the other kadett. Even if it is dirty I know the viewfinder will fit, I don’t think prisms are too hard to clean. As long as the mirror is in good condition.

Nice one :). Looks close enough to take a chance for £20. It’s listed at edixa mat and the kadett is part of the mat range so I assume it’s good.
Now to make sure I meet the postman before the other half!
The words "Edixa" and "good" are not, in my experience, normally found next to each other.

The Kadett comes from the company's later period, when standards were, sadly, starting to slip and the quality level is about the same as the Praktica Nova series; when they work they're not too bad but it's finding one that works. If you've had the good fortune to find one that is still fully operational, treat it gently.

I meant it’s good as in it should fit. I bought it from a shop that accepts returns so I’m going have a look and send it back if it needs to much doing to it :)

Camera arrived. Sadly it is worse state than advertised. A cla is definitely needed but it was listed as sticking on the slow shutter speeds only. However the mirror does not always return meaning you cannot fire the camera all the time and the auto aperture control on the camper doesn’t always return meaning cannot unscrew the lens.
Ah well, I’ll just return it and keep my eye out for a nice TLR
