Editing software needed

Hi all,

Have just tried installing the software i got with my Olympus, for some reason the Olympus master2 is not working(get the message had to close when i try to open), so binning that.

What do you recommend getting? Ideally would like free software, but is it worth paying for some?

Also, is it worth setting my DSLR up in RAW mode or as just starting forget that and get used to things?

try The Gimp or Gimpshop, Paint.Net if you are on Windows also

RAW every time. So much more flexible and better quality.:thumbs:
 
You could try uninstalling Master 2 and downloading the latest version from the Oly web site as you will need it to update the firmware for cameras and lenses.

Saying that I'm not a fan of the Oly software and nearly any raw converter will be better even the one in Elements, but I am a big fan of Silkypix Studio 3 for the Olympus raw files (ORF). :)

Trying now, hopefully it will work this thime, have downloaded twice from the disc, but no joy.

Have downloaded the RAW essentials shooter, just waiting on CF card now, then i will be away.
 
Anybody able to help here, just installed the master 2 by downloading from the Olympus site, same as before, get the error box come up which says the Olympus master.exe has encountered a problem and sorry for inconvenience.

If i can't get this to work, how will i be able to update the firmware?

Sounds like you have a conflict of some sorts beteween your computer and the program did you uninstall the old master 2 via the windows control panel before installing the downloaded one.

As to raw shooter essentials this was discontinued some time ago and I doubt it will support the raw files from such a new model as the E-420.
 
Yes i did uninstall it.

About to send Olympus an email, not very good if i can't get it to work for the firmware side of things.

Anybody know how i can sort out the conflict?
