Hi everyone
I hope I've put this one inthe right place. I've been trying to use my laptop for pp recently (have been using a desktop for a while now).
The laptop is getting on a bit (about 2 years) and isn't the best, but runs everything as i need it to.

I'm struggling to get the screen to display properly, I'm not using any calibration equipment, simply having a photo printed and adjusting the screen to ensure brightness and colours match.

I've done the same on my desktop, and although it isn't perfect, it's definitely pretty good, and i'm never surprised at how my pictures look when printed.
But with my laptop, i'm having a really hard time adjusting the screens settings enough. There just doesn't seem to be enough adjustment capability.

I know its fairly common for people to use laptops for pp, and was wondering if anyone can advise how you adjust the screen properly? :bang:

My main issue is, when i think the image looks right, the print is too dark, when i darken the screen, it all looks too dark and lacks contrast.
i'm considering buying a new laptop soon as this one is slow, but want to make sure I can adjust the screen adequately.

Thanks

Laptop monitors will never be as good as desktop monitors, even when they are calibrated properly.

The only real way to get your monitor as accurate as possible is to use a monitor calibrator (and keep recalibrating every month or so).

Is Ricardo trying to sell you his laptop lol.

My experience of laptops is that the screen will go dark or light depending upon the angle of view. Why not get a descent IPS monitor and plug it into your laptop if you don't want to use a desktop computer, but to be honest I think this set up would be just as big.
