Hi all, I have only started photography in the last six months, really enjoying the hobby... I would like to do a couple of courses on photography / post shot editing, could anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction to learn.

I finished the Photography AS level this year, and am doing an A2 next year at Crewe college. They have a lot of evening classes depending on your skills, but it might be a bit of a drive for you.

Everything from Lightroom and Photoshop specific courses to the more advanced A level stuff (which includes film & darkroom work). If you just want post processing skills, the specific courses might be better. We didn't do much in the way of Photoshop stuff on the A level - it was more self directed project work, but the Mac labs, and the lecturer were always available if you had a specific question.

Mid-Cheshire college is useless unfortunately.

I'm not familiar with the colleges near where you are, but I'd suggest grabbing your local college prospectus and having a look. It's well worth the money, as if it's a proper college course, you get student prices for both Lightroom and Photoshop (as well as any other Adobe products) so you usually make the course fee back instantly if you buy something like that.

Group classes as opposed to one-on-one type sessions I find much more useful (and fun) because you've got a bunch of people all wanting to improve and can socialise as well as learn.

May be worth suggesting that this is a course you would like to see if your college doesn't offer it. If enough people ask, they may add one. Possibly a bit late for this autumn as catalogues are being published about now, but could happen for the January courses.

Pretty much all the photography-related courses here in Somerset have a high demand. We're having to add extra dates.
