Hi this is my first post and just wanted some advice. After the photo shoot do you show your clients the whole set of images unedited, do you edit them all and give them a choice of the ones they want on disc or do you choose the ones to edit and upload and they just choose what prints
Thank you in advance

Firstly, welcome to TP

I'm surprised you haven't had any replies to this yet, so here goes.

There's no way I'm going to show a client every single frame I shoot - there's no need for them to see the out of focus/badly composed/abject failures that crop up on every (well in my case anyway :D) shoot. Before we sit down to view them together (and while the client is having a complimentary coffee/toilet break) I whizz through the shots, weed out the dross and print out a contact sheet (purely for my own reference).

We then sit down together and go through the unedited shots so they can select the ones they want. I use the contact sheet to highlight the selected shots and make notes on how I've said I'll edit it and any comments/requests the client has. Once we've got the agreed number of shots selected I give them a card with the URL of the directory of their personal gallery and the password they need to access it. We agree when the pictures will be available for viewing on-line.

Once the gallery is live on-line I drop the client an email to that effect and ask for their comments/requests for changes. As soon as we're happy with the results I create a CD with a slideshow of the finished photographs and their "free" 8x10 print and mail it to them (or deliver by hand if they live locally enough). The slideshow doesn't allow them to extract the pictures so I've no worries about them nipping into ASDA to get prints done. They can order prints directly from the on-line gallery.

That's probably a bit more information than you were after, but I hope it's of help :)

I never show clients all the shots, I only show images I deem to be up to standard both technically and worthy in content. People blinking, blurred or missed focus and duplicates, anything I wouldn't sell.

I do basic batch processing on all images, boost contrast, adjust white balance, things like that before outputting low res watermarked jpgs for proofing. I pick several of my favourites and ones I think the customer will like and do any final retouching on those so they can see what a finished image will look like.
