Distilling down from the other thread, the best options are the first two weekend in June. Saturday is probably optimal, the buses are better and the train connections are more frequent.

Pick all that apply, most votes gets it. In the event of a tie I'll toss a coin.(I think the power has gone to my head!!)

Any complaints?

Definitely a Saturday for me, planning on coming up on Friday evening and heading south again on the Sunday.

I'm happy with either date as well.

I put down both but something's come up on the 14th

Shall we just call it the 7th then? It's got the most votes and folk need to get stuff booked.

No love for CowboyNeal...

+1

7th is ok with me.

My very good friends in the fair city of Edinburgh have agreed to let me stay at their pad that weekend so I (or more likely 'we' as the Curent Mrs Snap would be very annoyed to miss a trip up north) will probably head up on friday.

Really looking forward to this.

Andy

I've booked my train tickets and hotel, I'll be up there Friday too.

Are you lot leaving on the Sunday or Saturday evening?

I'm staying til Sunday going back in the evening.

That's my plan too, though we might leave earlier than Sunday evening. Which hotel did you book, Nick?

Yep, we're going to leave on sunday as well. Going to spend some of the time catching up with our friends as well as togging.

Andy

I am so jealous guys, Edinburgh is one of the best Cities in the world to photograph, unfortunately I will be in Spain, but, photography wise,I would wish Edinburgh.

Have a great time and stay out of the drinking clubs,OH that is not going to happen,so embrace it.

Drinking? on a film photography meet....perish the thought. :D

Aw that's a shame I would have loved to meet you guys but can't do June dates. In Biggar for a few days at the moment with family perhaps the next time though.

Do pop into the Crown while you're in Biggar, they always did an excellent pint :D

Booked the sleeper to Edinburgh today, wondering whether it'll live up to the romantic idea of long-distance train travel, though it's a bit late for that now!

Decided not to go with the sleeper option, it just worked out a little too pricey. I'm booked into this place http://www.myedinburghlife.com reasonable price and very central, hopefully it's ok.

Arrives at Waverley at 7.22am

I was thinking about dropping the bags at the hotel, then finding some breakfast. Might head up to Two Thin Laddies for old times sake or look for something closer to the station.

My train arrives at Waverley at 9.37 on the Saturday.

Just thought I'd give this a little bump to see if there's any other interested folk that want to join us on the 7th.

@steveo_mcg it might be worth doing a group email to exchange contact numbers.

Does anyone have plans for Saturday night? T'missus and I are thinking of having dinner at Vittorias, it's an Italian restaurant in Edinburgh that we used to go to regularly. It's not fine-dining but it's good Italian food with a home-cooked feel.

We're going to book a table so if you'd like to come along, let me know so we can get the right numbers. Let's say let me know by Sunday and I'll book the table on Monday. :)

Sounds like a great plan, good way to end a day mooching round Edinburgh and I'm looking forward to meeting Mrs Strappy.

I'll have to play it by ear. I may have to go home to help with bed time, depends how the kids have been that day.

As a proper northern lad I hold no truck with all this foreign food, i shall be having my normal English saturday night tea of chicken chow mein and chips.......
Thanks for the offer Dean, as nice as it would be I am obliged to dine with our hosts in Craiglochart.

Is that a Vesta chicken chow mein?

Of course, only the very best for me.

Oh, thank Buddha for that, I couldn't think how to extend the invite to everyone but Andy and he's sorted it out for me.

Nah, only kidding ;)

You, the current Mrs. Snap and your hosts are, of course, welcome to join us should you wish. Or not, y'know, whatever, no pressure.

Ah balls, must be a bit late to the party on this by now :/

It's not April is is? Just seen that the trams are finally running in Edinburgh.

I half considered going for a shot but I'm worried upon boarding they'll turn out to be some elaborate illusion.
