Can any suggest a shopping cart that just works and is easily skined to look like our own design?

Tried Magento but it doesn't display products on the home page, you have to hard code, which I was still unsucessful after I read some forums.

Features I need

Grid view on the home page. Menu with categories, some general business info tabs and obviously a cart.

Can any suggest some thing that is worth using? and able to skin the same as our static site?

cheers

check out CScart, the free version doesnt let you mess about with the templates, but the paid for version does. it is, however, very good

thank you, yes Magento does seem to have a good following but for the life of me I could not get products on the home or even find where they are listed lol.

From experience I would expect a ecommerce package to actual display products on the home page as standard, could be wrong though probs missed the point.

ZenMagik seems like a good idea from there demo store and come with some simple clean themes which I could work on.

Tried Oscommerce but wasn't a fan, the admin gui is awful.

Presta and open cart do seem very clean also from their site.

hmm, my server is going to get a hammering tonight when I install each one.

David,

Give some feedback on your findings as this is something I am starting to look at. Many thanks Jon

Thanks, it will be appreciated.

BTW what is your commerce site selling?

Hi Jon, All being well Wall Lights, Ceiling lights etc and Adult objects (adult is a seperate store and not together)

If you want a class leading cms with nice admin gui, check out joomla with virtue mart.
Works well, quite easy to skin and move it all around, some good support out there as well.

If you need any help just shout :)

Hi Davidh6781,

Not sure if you are into a bit of coding etc within your website but you might want to try JShop Server. I've used it almost since it came onto the scene many years ago and its evolved into a very nice piece of software and its developed in the UK! Might not be what you are looking for but take a look at http://www.jshop.co.uk/ and browse the details. Have fun...all the best

you got any examples of the sites you've made with that?

Currently only one that is under development due to owner of company moving premises. Its not fully available to the internet yet as I have the site blocking search engine indexing so we don't get too much unwanted attention before its completed. A limited (beta) view can be seen at http://www.neoartglass.co.uk/shop/ but remember its far from fully functioning. There is only one other site but the owner doesn't want any exposure yet and got me to sign a confidentiality agreement and contract through his solicitor! Good money though so I'm not arguing with him.

The JShop Server software is very flexible and reasonably easy to incorporate into your own site and design if you are confident with web coding and scripts etc.
