ebuyer

Ooops... That'll teach them. Did you see anything worth buying?

i spotted a USB3 external blu-ray writer for a quid down from 160 odd but couldnt get it into my basket, apparently others have bagged £130 motherboards etc.

theyve basically DOS'd their site :D

people don't understand that the servers have to stop accepting requests so they don't crash. i wonder if they are dedicated servers?

youd expect them to, but that amount of people pressing F5 over and over will probably cause it to meltdown..

look what happened to apples servers when ios5 was released, same thing.

but this will be hourly as they release new items..

you would also think they would have fallover servers as well. i would love to see the cpu graph

the servers probably have 18+GB of ram and dual intel cpus.

Just been reading the Facebook feed. Teehee... Talk about people getting shirty when they miss out on something...

I ordered one of the monitors and within 10mins got an email indicating it was OOS.

It's not as though I needed a 20" with VGA-only input, so I'm not that bothered.

I think a £1 sale was only ever going to DDOS their server and **** people off. Most people were buying stuff for the sake of it.

A better sale would have been 50/60/70/etc% off stuff. More people would have got what they wanted, and eBuyer would probably have made more money as their site wouldn't have been down all morning.

Bang goes my afternoon then:'(

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

im going to take most of my business else where from now on

Because the site is down for one day while the sales on?

Yawn.

Ebuyer is one of the cheapest places around with 11pm next day delivery.. I don't think you will, i know i wont.

Back up and not a pound to be seen:D

well theyve definately peeved a few people today, many vowing not to use them again. it certainly smacks of a PR fail.

i wonder if ebuyer think it was worth the few quid from the clearance items.. minus the days normal trading..

It was the folk expecting free delivery for their £1 that got me:lol:

haha, its like black friday in the US, a bunch of idiots doing anything for a cheap deal, destroying everything in their path and leaving all respect for other people well behind.
