Ebola Case In Glasgow Confirmed - New Case In Northampton

I see on the news that another person is in quarantine in Edinburgh whilst they test for Ebola

BBC report HERE

Already reported above unless this is a second case but I don't think it is

Ideally says who exactly? You? Personally I'd rather take the advice of medical professionally personally, including in that my sister that is a double honours degree qualified nurse who has spent the last 8 years as an A&E sister in one of Dublins biggest hospitals...to do as you suggest would be a colossal waste of time, money and most importantly vital medical resources....

If Ebola can spread there, it can be spread here. History has taught is nothing. It would be wise to quarantine those working with Ebola patients as even the best processes in the world can still see folk get it (nurse in Spain, nurse from Glasgow )

Well, it hasn't. And there are lots and lots of reasons for that.

The most "deprived" areas of the UK don't come close to Sierra Leone.

No, because we've only had one confirmed case. Once a few carriers come in, start bonking etc it'll spread quite quickly.

You any idea quite how moronic you sound? So far there has be one case diagnosed in this country, and that is a nurse that had caught it while working to help save lives, there's been no transmission of ebola in this country, because you know we have little things like easy access to soap and water! Honestly you need to stop reading the tabloids and actually get a real clue about what your talking about before you make yourself look any more stupid than you already have

Hmmmm

But studies have shown that, in people who have survived the disease, the live virus may persist for up to 90 days in semen and could therefore be sexually transmitted.

On reading this, I'd lock the country down to people coming from W.Africa full stop.

Believe what you want. But please, don't believe anything on the Natural News site. Not only is it 100% b*****ks, a lot of it is dangerous.

Added to your other list of countries, no doubt.
You really should up your meds.

Also the point about sexual transmission is that its x weeks after someone has recovered from ebola - so its not a major vector as people know they've had it (in that respect its not like HIV where you can have it and not know)

True, as your getting jiggy, you don't really ask, have you ever had Ebola...a lot won't also know it can linger after recovery and bonk away and spread it.

Whilst you are correct its not hidden like HIV there is still a real risk. And its not like chlamydia where it doesn't matter hugely if you get it...

Caution should prevail.

In other news the sun is going to die and go full super nova and take out the earth

Really you actually don't have a clue do you?

So now we know that Ebola can be transmitted sexually so what do we do we tell survivors not of procreate for 3 months, it not exactly flipping rocket science now is it?

I'm trying to figure out right now if you genuinely are thick, or if your just acting that way to get a rise out of people....is this some sort of gratification for you?

?

Do you think people who survive will adhere to this? Honestly, I don't. The risk to public health and safety is too large to ignore.

I've ignored the rest of the post for the hot air that it is.

Well you would be the expert on hot air, you sure spout enough of it, the risk to public health is not massive at all hell even if they do break the advice of abstinence post recovery do you really think that they are then going to run off and have a mass orgie? It more than likely most who recover (there's only been two so far in this country) will not be so promisous as to sexually transmit it to dozens of people...most likely they will have a single sexual partner, and that person will also only have the one sexual partner...

You really do have a rather warped sense of reality...

People bonk about. I wouldn't take a chance with something as serious as Ebola. Better safe than sorry

I thought it was 2 Matt?

The Scottish nurse was treated with blood plasma from the first person

Two successfully treated, however the first was transported back to the UK for treatment so still only one actually diagnosed in this country

Do try not to judge the moral fortitude of people who risk there own health to travel to Africa to try and help the health of those of Africa who do not have access to the quality care we do in this country my your own morals that increasingly look rather weak :(

Where did I say bonking around is bad? Can you pleas explain where I am judging the moral fortitude of those treating Ebola?

And update on things

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-30846704

Two volunteers have been transferred to the UK after potential contact with the Ebola virus in separate incidents.

Public Health England said the patients' risk of having the virus was low and the measure was a precaution.

Authorities said the individuals - one of whom is Australian - had not been diagnosed with Ebola and did not currently have symptoms of the disease.

Experts emphasised the risk to the public was low and said the volunteers would be monitored for 21 days.

Matt, you're attributing morals to someone who who has been shown to be sadly lacking.

incidentally the first known case of Ebola Zaire in the uk was in 1976 when a lab worker was infected in an accident , he didnt die and he didn't infect anyone else either

It's worth noting in this thread that with the brilliant work of all the good people of various counties travelling to West Africa, it's looking like the battle against Ebola is being won, but let's not get complacent until we can be sure

according to the news tonight theres a vaccine being shipped as we speak

Yeah I also saw that were worried they wouldn't have enough cases left to treat because the numbers acquiring the infection have fallen to suck low levels now    that's scientists for you :P

Glasgow nurse has left hospital. All OK

A year after being given the all clear the Scottish nurse, Pauline Cafferkey, has been re-admitted to hospital with Ebola and is in a serious condition

Source BBC News

The nurses condition has deteriorated, she is now in a critical condition

It would seem she was dismissed from a drop in clinic too, yet I'm fairly sure she would have disclosed her previous status, especially as she then took herself off to hospital.

Having survived the virus previously, it's doubly sad that it may beat her this time.
