Hi all Wondering if anybody had any dealings with
Monsterlondon uk photography shop on ebay
if so would you recommend buying from them

Why not just look at thier feedback. Surely thats a pretty good way of seeing how good or bad they are.

what you usually find is a disclaimer in the small print that says, "items will be sent in plain packaging and marked as a gift (this is to get around customs) although i can,t find it on this site. not sure how much warranty you get on new lenses but they are only giving 1 yr. if like me you are careful with your gear this may be enough, but if it breaks down lets say 8 mnths after the sale ebay won,t be getting involved with a dispute that may arise hth, mike. if you don,t mind me asking which lens were you looking at?

I bought from an ebay shop which had very positive feedback. When I received the item it was a badly repaired piece of dung instead of the brand new item I had paid for. I promptly sent it back and got a refund which I was glad to get.

So personally for me positive feedback means nothing when shopping on ebay. I will only buy low cost items on ebay now as a result.

Gerard.

There is an exception to every rule, but generally good feedback is hard earned. Most people on eBay are idiots and leave a neg unless everything is 100% ok.

I got my over 1000 transaction 100% record ruined by some dick who claimed one size fits all foam earplugs didn't fit him. No attempt at contacting me, just a straight neg.

Anyway, even if the item isn't what you thought, PayPal will refund you regardless. You can't loose on eBay as a buyer.

Well they have 100% positive feedback, BUT they are a Hong Kong company.
They could be grey imports although they do say all import/duty is pre paid.

Of course they're grey imports and I would doubt very much that the VAT and duty is "prepaid", more likely they goods will be shipped either with a lower declared value or as a "repaired" item being returned to you...

Blimey, didn't know Dumbo the elephant had an account!!

In all seriousness, buyers know they can't get negs so exploit the strong arm tactics when they can, or if you are a business you have to give a 7 day no quibble return policy (ideal if you want to 'rent a lens'), or the return a broken item that wasn't the original one in the first place!

So I would agree most sellers do earn their points.

Question is where did he try to stick the earplugs.

Yes, positive transactions are hard earned (I've a 50 plus 100% record) and there are good sellers out there. I'm just a bit wary as it was only recently I had this negative experience.

Cheers,

Ger.

PS OP I've never used MonsterLondon uk so cant comment on that retailer.:)

I've never used MonsterLondonUK on ebay, but I have used a seller called Digigood which sell lenses and other photographic gear at decent prices. I've used Digigood quite a few times without any problems whatsoever.
