Hi there, stuck my Siggy 70-200 EX DG HSM Canon mount on there , it ended at 8.30am this morning ,bids stopped at £280 which i thought was a bit low.Yet i noticed this ,http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT&salenotsupported.The time left indicator hasn't moved since yest ,also does anyone have any ideas why the bids are so high with 8 odd days to go. And finally ,do you think my listing finishing at 8.30 in the morning was the reason bids were so low (surely this lens is worth more than £280),i'm confused

Well maybe I've paid more than I've needed to (there are very few real bargains on eBay these days), but I've been the high bidder for several valuable items that have been private listings with low starting price and no reserve.

They've all been delivered promptly and as described. The main problem with sellers is their not appreciating the standard of packing that is required for safe delivery of heavier old lenses.

I agree that ending the auction at 8:30pm should get more bids than 8:30am.

Hi, I sell ( and buy ;) ) a lot on ebay I find the same item can sell for upto 20% more if it ends 7pm-10pm. Although it costs a little more I would use the time delay listing option if you can not list later in the day.

did you list it with a reserve, most auctions with a reserve don't attract much interest as the buyer assumes you'll want top dollar for it so they don't bother to bid

Yeh i did put a reserve on it ,so you reckon it's better not to ,is that not a bit of a risky thing to do,that leaves me running the risk of not getting anywhere near asking price ,ie... bought for £100 asking price £130.
