eBay sellers help needed

I've had exactly the opposite, on 2 occasions (one was RMSD, one was Recorded), buyers claimed they hadn't received, I sent the tracking numbers to eBay, they accepted one without any further communication and closed the case, on the other they asked for a scan of the posting receipt and closed the claim a few days later (I don't remember which was which now, it was quite some time ago).

About 5 months ago a friend sold a boxed Samsung S3, the buyer decided it had "marks" on it and demanded a refund, then sent the empty box back. eBay decided in my friends favour when he contacted them and pointed out the discrepancy in the weight of the parcel going out and coming back.

Guess it depends which robot you talk to then.

As a buyer, they have been great every time I've needed it, just I've never a good experience as a seller.

eBay winds me right up with stuff like this! I rarely use it now unless the missus is moaning that we need a clear out. I had a case where i'd posted the item, it was an item worth £120 and i offered recorded delivery, however the buyer didn't want to pay for it. So i just (luckily) insured the item anyway. Sent it off, and within a couple of days a case was opened without having any comms from the buyer saying it hadn't arrived. There was no investigation at all! eBay and Paypal basically decided i hadn't sent the item so refunded the bloke money from my paypal account. So i luckily claimed the money back from the post office insurance. But it was still bloody annoying!

The other problem i have with eBay is that most people just want everything for nothing now a days. If you ask for a realistic price for something then it won't sell. Then eBay and paypal take their fees!

You were lucky, eBay dealing should just be common sense, there are many dishonest people out there, it costs between £3 and £10 to send recorded, so why take the risk that you are dealing with a dishonest person out to scam just to save a £ or 2?

If it's worth under £50, it goes RMRD, more than £50 it goes RMSD. it's never failed yet.

Almost every eBay "horror" story seems to have someone deviating from the rules, taking some sort of chance or scrimping on postage.

The way I see this is:
a. The wrong item was ordered.
b.The wrong item was sent.
c. The buyer is trying to blame the seller for his own mistake.
d. The seller is trying to blame the buyer for his own mistake.
e. The buyer gets arsey with the seller.
f.The seller gets arsey with the buyer.

Do yourself a favour, pay the prick his due refund, put the kettle on and forget all about it.

If the OP wants to continue selling on e-bay, refund and move on. If they're not too bothered about the bay, dig your heels in! If the refund route gets followed, can negative feedback that's unwarranted be removed? If so, follow the rules to the letter and just refund the purchase, not the P&P.
