I'm advertising a few things on eBay - they seem to have their own postage recommendations

I have a lot of old BMW Motorcycle stuff, (I was very keen years ago), I have a small BMW booklet from 1982 that is worth maybe £100 + ...... I know it seems a lot but it is quite rare in the condition that it is in......... it took me ages to find such years ago

I do not seem to be able to chose a postage rate that I want - I would prefer Royal Mail, tracked and insured ........ is there a way to see other postage options for buyer pays, (other than what eBay brings up). or do I have to say that I will post it tracked and insured and say that seller pays and I do not use the eBay label etc., and go to the PO and send the normal way

I have searched the site but I cannot find how to edit the eBay postage preferences

Thanks

Hi Bill

There is a preference to turn this option off, I think I did have the option when I listed the item for sale to turn off other postal outlets and just have royal mail.

Hope this helps.

If you use an alternative postage method you will lose eBay protection - if you can even find where/how to turn theirs off.
It appears that eBay 'Simple Delivery' cover you though as it's tracked through their system.

If you choose Custom Postage, then in the postage policy box above, click the three dots to the right and create your own postage policy. It's a bit of a ball ache but it can be done. You can set your postage costs and delivery service. Once someone has bought the item, you can get the address and send it them way you want to. That's how i use it.

That seems to be the best general option although it is a little more expensive at the "low" end of what the postage is calculated to be and you can chose between three carriers, including Royal Mail and as suggested above deselect Evr.
I spoke to the lady in the PO about Evr .. she did not have anything good to say saying that they take their time in collecting packages and that she still had stuff in the back room which they had not collected after some time.
