No
I went to buy a small item fro eBay and checked out via ticking the paypal option.
I went through the all the usual signing in etc. until the end.
Payment was rejected and it led me to another screen asking to add another card to my PP account.
This happened 3 times in the space of 24 hours ( I tried again in case it was a PP blip)
And no I didn't add another card...

I signed out and went to my PP account via the web, my card is there, current, and set as my primary source of funds. along with my address.
I checked my CC account and all is in order, no unauthorised payments etc.

That only leaves 2 options,
1) the seller refuses to use PP, but why ask me to add another card to my PP account
2) something is bit iffy here.

I did buy the same item from another seller without issues.

I've had the same trouble with PP on several occasions. There have also been other problems too. :banghead:

I've given up using them, they're more trouble than they're worth as far as I'm concerned and I will now only use BT.

So its not just me then.
TBH I only use it for eBay purchases, as apparently it does afford some protection.
Thankfully I've not had cause to test that though. ( Yet anyway)

Option 1) can't happen. Once a seller agrees to PayPal, the process is completely out of the seller's control. Either PayPal or your bank had a glitch. My debit card stopped working for an hour or so last week - this was in shops, not PayPal.

I used to use it for the same reason, but have now given up and just use a debit card. It's very rare I buy anything on Ebay now anyway - far too many scammers for my liking and PP seems to like helping them to get away with it.

Could the CC company have blocked that seller for some reason?
No idea TBH, but I guess its feesable, being eBay and all that ;)
Oh well what ever it was I won't be buying from them again ( not that I can of course)

never as yet had a problem with PayPal ,it does sound like something dodgy was up with the site you were attempting to buy from ,may well have been a hi-jacked account lots of that going on during the covid confusion which is world-wide and the scammers know that normal offices like PayPal and e/bay have help line staff working from home .. I had to resolve a minor problem re-a listing last week . and the e/bay rep was at home and then had to put me on hold to get clarification

Strange.
I've used PayPal for years, not just on eBay, and never had any issues at all.

Isn't PayPal constantly trying to add more strings to its bow, more options for them to get your money should one method fail.
This used to happen to me a while ago when I only had one card on the account, but when that card expired I had to add the new one, or change the old one.
Anyway, I just added a new one, so there is a bank account number and 2 cards on the account but the old card isn't valid obviously.
It hasn't failed to pay since, though it has requested an alternative occasionally which I ignore.

A bit of an update, I've used paypal twice since, once on ebay, once elsewhere with no issues whatsoever
so I'm guessing it was a dodgy site, and its easy to see how some may "fall for it"
But Its only a couple of months since I updated the card and I knew there wasn't an issue with the card, as I'd used it to pay for food in a shop,
not that long before.

Keep an eye out for some bitcoin transactions over the next week or two, happened to the wife after buying some 2.99 stickers on ebay last year
I really don't understand that ( bit coin) at all, but it seems FF has those transactions blocked.
Whether or not, that's a safe guard I don't know either, TBH.
