Hi,

I was selling my Nikon DSLR on eBay and someone bought it with 0 feedback. This sold yesterday (BUY IT NOW), but no payment was received, not even today, so I emailed them, opened a Buyer is unresponsive case etc but don't know what more I can do.

I go on holiday on Sunday for 3 weeks so obviously if they pay after I go it's pretty pointless as I can't dispatch it.

I'm just a bit worried.

Thanks.

If they dont pay all that happens is you get your listing fee back and end up re listing it.

Other than just getting your listing fee back i doubt there is anything else you will be able to do. This is annoying as it just wastes your time but that is ebay for you.

I never have things on Ebay just before I go on holiday for reasons like this.

Doesn't matter, I emailed her saying that I need the payment immediately as I go on holiday from Sunday.. That's enough of a warning. I did open an Unresponsive Buyer case as she could at least just tell me that she will pay soon instead of ignoring all my messages. Her username is her name followed by 96 so can't help but think that she is under the legal age for eBay anyway, and she does have 0 feedback.

If she does pay whilst I'm on holiday - I'll just refund it.

Thanks.

Did your Buy It Now have the option of Immediate Payment Required, or did you put in your selling terms immediate payment required?

Nope - should've set it up for immediate payment :( thought only business sellers could do that.

I did talk on live chat to eBay and they said if you're on holiday when they pay just refund it and email the buyer saying the reason. They also said that I opened up a unresponsive buyer case (which I did) and the buyer has to reply to it, or if they ignore it automatically after 7 days the case gets closed.

You live and you learn.

Thanks.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I always have the Immediate payment option and limit bidders with zero ratings. You could always make a second chance offer to the next highest bidder.

And then they have another 4 days to respond so in effect they get 8 days.

Also, if they pay within the 8 days (but you have gone on holiday by then) they could probably report you for not sending the item, you end up with a strike on your account and negative feedback.

The moral being never list anything so close to you going away on holiday.

they buyer will get a non-payment strike too, and you can set on your account not to accept bids from users with a certain amount of strikes :)

Your right neil i forgot that bit :)

Yeah - last day I can dispatch it is Saturday, but I thought if a seller refunds a payment (with the PayPal refund button) it links to eBay and the seller can't leave feedback anymore?

Thanks.

i always stipulate in red caps - anyone with less than 10 good feedback contact me 1st or i will delete your bids - end of - there's a lot of scammers/idiots who mess genuine people about - hope you get it resolved..
