Hello guys,
wonder if any one could help me out.
I sold a Nikon 5700 on eBay. The buyer received the camera and lens. The packaging got damaged so was put into a royal mail bag. I got an email saying the camera was making funny noises and didn't work. So buyer has sent the camera back. I can't find anything wrong with it? i can take an image from the camera and send it to her, so i was wondering how i get the details off the camera as far as the time and date and the camera used to take the camera. Can this be done?
I hate ebay now, nothing to protect the seller.
any advice appreciated.

The image from the camera should contain an EXIF file that allows you to see the time and date stamp.

But I think this adds no value as you could simply set the date and time on the camera and simply falsify the date.

I used to have this camera. Were they being stupid and using it in continuous focus mode so it kept making a noise that way?

Hiya

Take a picture of todays newspaper, making sure you can see the date and headlines (which is probably about the credit crunch anyways!)

As 30psi states the exif should show it, but you can change date and time in camera and in the exif manually.

Regards

Andy

*edit*, Make sure you send the exif as well as the picture of the newspaper, cos you could take the picture with any camera that works!

Or get the camera to take a picture of itself in the mirror with today's paper as the background. Of course that's only proof that it's the same camera model and not THE camera in question.

I think you'd be better off giving up on this one.
Maybe the buyer just isn't up for anything more technical than a kettle, maybe they decided they didn't want it afterall, you just can't tell whats going on with some numpties from ebay.
To keep things civil, refund them, re-sell to another numptie and cross fingers.
Its just the way things are with ebay, you can't choose who you sell to.:(

Agree a refund with the buyer and ebay and re-sell it, it's just not worth messing about on ebay.

cheers, i know i will have to sollow it, she said she brought one from ebay before with the same problem and has now brought a 3rd, i should think it will have the same problem!!!! and belive it or not she is shooting someones weddng!!! she might figure it out 3rd time lucky!!

Good price for the buyer. What they moaning at...

If you need to re-sell it, let me know :)

if you still want some info from the camera, try this software:
photoME

gives loads details about the picture and camera...

If I remember correctly the default settings of this camera leaves the fosussing in a kind of continuous focus mode. It's years since I had one but mine did that!
