Yes
basically i listed my D3200 on ebay, its still selling with under 1day left, the issue i have is gone for way over what i thought it would, some take this a hey a bonus, but im some what doubtful on this, the highest bidder is currently a person with 0 feedback and only just joined ebay

ive tried to contact the buyer but ive had no reply, but the person who bid before at only £10 less, (still a shock at that price) has good feedback over 30,

should i let it run and see if they buy it? but risk them not and having to re-list it again?
or can i cancel the persons bid with 0 feedback so it goes to the next person?

heres the item :

sorry if this is in the wrong sections

thanks kieran

Personally I'd let it run , you never know !

If they don't pay you could offer the next highest bidder a second chance offer

Good luck

so if i contact the person now, whos 2nd highest bidded and explain to them if it sells il offer them it, just to save me having to relist it after the auction has ended?

Settings on EBay allow you to NOT recieve bids from anyone under a certain number of feedbacks, too late now but something to consider for the future!
Could be genuine, we all have to start somewhere i would regard it as highly suspicious. Message the bidder with your concerns, if they are genuine, they will get back to you with explanations.

i didnt relaise this or i would of done this, the next highest bidded has good feedback though, so they dont worry me, the ebay account was only registered yesterday which makes my suspicions even more,

ive sent a message to the person with the highest bid but they havent replied to me

I too would be sceptical..

It might just be that they don't understand, and all will be ok.
I'd let it run and see if they cough up, if not go second chance.

No, you do it after the auction has ended and you offer it for the amount they bid, it's very straightforward . All you do is click on second chance offer, it then gives you list of bidders and amounts they bid.

the only problem i have there is, if i do that, then the 2nd highest bidder turns around and sas sorry ive already bought one, then i have to relist it all again?

I wouldn't worry. Somebody could have mentioned it to a friend who doesn't use eBay and set up an account just to get this camera.

Enjoy your winnings. :-)

You will (should) get a second chance offer automatically if the deal falls through for the second highest bidder. No need to contact them.

If they don't pay you can file a none paying bidder and get final value fees and listing fee refunded

Give em a chance!

IF I was second chance, I would be wondering if *you* had shill bid it up to make me hit my max bid.
So bear that in mind.... but tbh, you have nothing to lose, as mentioned above by mrgas, if all else fails, open a non-payment case, get your fees back and relist.

I'd start to get sceptical if it was going for 1000+...

What's the betting that the bidder with zero feedback sends you some spam mail wanting to pay you 10,000 <insert some obscure currency here> thats worth £2000 english pounds in return for you sending the goods plus £1000 English pounds as he needs to get rid of the said currency for some out of this world reason!

IF the bidder wins it and you decide to chance it, take some CLOSE UP photos, dated, as proof of the condition. the auction does not make it too clear of the cameras condition, and tell them you have done so, this should deter the claim of not as described etc.

Correct, there's every chance the deal will be all good !

No, I meant give them a chance to reply! :D
But your point is valid!

I would just delete his bid, because it sounds dodgy to me.

... And they're selling for 7 quid more on the same site, boxed and new.

Let's hope it IS mint. ;-)

I agree, I would send him an eBay message, and ask him for some details (say you always do it for 0 feedback bidders) like a phone number. If he fails to respond then cancel his bid.

What could his motive possibly be if it is dodgy?

There are dozens of reasons for over bidding on an item.
Just go to the Ebay forums for a list.

ive sent the person a message a while ago when they was bidding but i havent had a reply since, they set there maximum bid on the 8th of jan when they opened the account, so its been auto bids since then,

so i think im going to cancel the persons bid to be on the safe side

How many times did he bid? Remember that if it wasn't for his bids the bidder below wouldn't have/will bid higher. Might be a bit miffed about that.

A scammer who wants it sent to his cousin in Nigeria or brother currently doing missionary work in Indonesia, who will then pay via Western Union or a "guaranteed" bank cheque with an extra £100 for your trouble.

Of course the payment doesn't really exist, but it takes 5 or 6 days to fail.

Surely we've all started with Zero feedback ?

How do you get feedback if people cancel your bids ?

ive now took the option and cancelled the bid, il let the auction run

i would of been happy to sell to the person with 0 feedback, but they failed to reply to any of my messages

Probably a wise move if they didn't respond.

cant say I blaim you! Hell, its your item, you can do what you feel is right!

Hmm, but only an idiot would post it?

I wouldn't have used bank transfer or cheque as payment options, myself.

If you have 0 feedback you need to work a little harder, I normally add a line in asking 0 feedback users to contact me before bidding to confirm they are legitimate bidders and reserve the right to cancel any bids made without doing so.

The genuine new users I've dealt with hasn't seemed insulted or annoyed by this.

kind of off subject, but its bad the way they do it because now, ive seen the next persons highest bid,

if ebay somehow stopped that it would stop alot of scamming on ebay

I had a similar problem when selling a camera on e-bay. The buyer had 0 against them and I was unable to contact them and it turned out to be a scam so beware. Fortunately I did not send the camera to them. Just be very careful and it gives honest e-buyers a bad name

You'd be surprised, I've seen people complain (on forums like MSE and CAG) of sending items worth £100's and even £1000's after being fooled by a fake Paypal payment acknowledgement or Western union confirmation.

If it was me i would send him another message to say he is welcome to re-bid after making contact and allowing you to contact him by phone. Apologise and say its not personal, merely a security precaution for a high value item.

Am I seeing right? The next bidder only has 1 (ONE) feedback!
back to square one!!

Cancel that I miss-read it!
