Yes
Just bought an iPod from this seller, and then noticed he takes cash by Bank Transfer only and his feedback is 50 but it is all 1p items over the last few days, I smell a rat?

What do you think.

HERE is his 2nd iPod for sale and funnily enough it's only a 24 hour sale as well, I know I should have checked but I only looked on as my other mp3 player had died and this one had 50 seconds to go so I bid, have a look at his feedback and listing and let me know what you think.

I have requested tel number, address and pics of item showing his bank statement to prove his address to see if that helps proves he/she is genuine. I was also thinking of offering half now half on receipt.

I know, I know, you'd think some with nearly 200 positive feedback would have known better :(

Cheers,

Mike.

PS: his feedback has risen by 3 in the last hour all with 1p items

its deffentaly not as it seems by just looking at some of the stuff he has been purchasing, i would tell him to try sell it to some other mug and report him to Ebay.

No feedback as a seller and bank transfer would be enough for me to avoid it like the plague.
I would back out if I was you.

I reckon he's iffy. If I were you I'd refuse to pay and take the negative feedback if any as the price you pay for catching clicky-no-looky disease.

If I owned the longest barge pole in the world I still wouldn't touch this seller with it;)

I think you ought to have known better.

Run away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay well away and report him as a scammer

Keeeeeeep awaaaaaaay defo :shake:

GO on the offensive. Get straight in touch with ebay, explain that you bid on the last minute without reading properly and now looking at his feedback you are reluctant to pay, especially as several of the 'items' are 'how to get 100 ebay feedbacks in day' or some such nonsense. You belive him to be a scammer and refuse to hand over using bank transfer to such a person. Ultimately, the worse they can do is give you a non payment strike, but frankly better that than losing your money.

stay away friend as i had a simliar experince and it cost me dearly

report to ebay:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Mike,

I know that you Scotsmen are renowned for being free and easy with your money.....but be serious.

Looking at the feedback, he's even bought + feedback...one of the items he bought was a deal to leave postiive feedback and the little + icon.

On the plus side....I backed out of a dodgy deal last year. Got a negative hit but this and the seller disappeared a week or so later....back to 100% positive.

Bob

I wouldnt touch it with someone elses barge pole, let alone my own!

As said above, offer Cash on Collection and see what they say.

That's quite amazing. His 51 feedback seems to have cost him 51 x 1p

Wonder why so few items listed if he is a con man? Maybe sell a couple of real ones before the sting.

Take the advice above :)

Hi,

Thanks for all the advice, basically confirmed my thoughts and actions to be taken on my part.

Sent seller this message after he offered to let me pay via Paypal once it is setup next week.

"Hi,

I am not convinced if this is a genuine auction due to your feedback and private bidders etc, send me your telephone number and address so we can discuss it.

Even if Paypal is setup at your end next week I still won't be protected paying that way as it would need to have been offered within the auction listing it can't be done retrospectively as far as I know.

I can only advise you to offer the losing bidder a 2nd chance offer, as having reviewed your feedback etc I am very reluctant to send any payment for this item."

I will await a response as this is the second time I have asked for full contact details. I see he has also added another iPod for sale and both now have bids with bidders identities kept 'private'

Mike.

well dodgy.

But there is nothing wrong with anyone asking for payment by bank transfer. That's what I do in most cases as paypal isn't guaranteed.

Always sus regarding bidders names being withheld. Could be his mates bidding to up the price. All stinks a bit:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:.

and those he's dealing with are also into lots of 1p and 1 cent deals in last few days. Including one person with a purchase today who is no longer a member. Looks like egay may already be on the job.

and have you seen the titles on some of those books? '101 EBAY SECRETS REVEALED EBOOK' 'how to make money online no risk' !!!!! 'HOW TO BUY A CAR WITH NO / ZERO CREDIT' and 'MAKING MONEY ONLINE IS EASY' Run away!!!!!!!!!

Mike.

don't sound like a bad idea now you think of it ??? ?thinking:

def ask for the guys name adress and phone number. if he wont cough them up up , tell him where to stick it.
all those sellers and no buyers. mmmmmmmmmm.
dont think i,d be keen either.
look for the guys phone number on 118 etc.
surely an above board firm would be on the phone?
if you get an adress in arnold, we could always check him out for you.:bat:

Well just to update you, I never paid - I had decided this even before posting here for advice but just wanted your opinions about the seller as well to convince me 100% that he was a scammer, and we were right, he has now been removed from eBay.

Thanks for your help.

Mike.
