Only ever bought 1 CF card from ebay and it was fake!

A very good fake at that. :(

I wouldn't buy a card from eaby if it was free + post, it's an expensive mistake if it fails with 200 images on it.

Considering you can buy 4Gb Sandisk Extreme III CF cards from loads of different places with a much better rep than Fleabay, I don't see why you would want to trust 'someone you met on the net' over, say, Amazon (4Gb Sandisk Extreme III CF card £16.36 inclusive) anyway 66p for 2Gb seems like a bargain to me

:agree:

Only wanted a 2 Gb don't see the point of going higher to 4 Gb there's more to lose than on a 2

Will give this one a good testing and get back on this post to report the findings.

BTW the packaging was original the RescuePro software was original but version 3 not 3.3 like from Picstop but I have a feeling these are old stock, the pouch that came with it was the same as Picstop but hammering the disc will show if it's up to scratch.

Good luck! I hope you dont regret it.

DO NOT BUY SANDISK CARDS FROM EBAY, it will probably all end in tears.

It needed saying and now its said.

For info 'Rescue Pro' has been shipping at v4 for quite a while now.

some of the replicas are very convincing i have heard, for the cost of them, i would agree with everyone else, not worth the chance.

just because this one is real doesnt mean the next one will be.

Be careful with eBay cards. I've got two fakes this way, and one time the guy who sold me one of these has actually denied any responsibility, and he has even given me a negative comment which I cannot get rid off till today.

All you can do when you'll find them is to report that to eBay and Sandisk, which I did. But it didn't helped - and I have finished being called a liar...

That's how it is sometimes. :)

I used the card tonight and shot some 400 photo's with only a battery change otherwise its stood up to a bit of abuse without a problem, downloaded a few using a USB stick then loaded them back on again stuck back in the camera and everything is fine. Formatted on camera, no problems...took some more photos of the M56, Frodsham Marshes and ICI Runcorn using spot mode, auto, manual and priority modes back into the computer and formatted and not failures to report.

I have a feeling that it was a job lot this guy had ordered of old stock and got it cheap. Checked the serial number with Sandisk and that went ok.

I've had XD cards off Ebay without any problems but will only buy from people with 97% or more and check the feedback of those that aren't satisfied and for what. So far I've been lucky but will heed the advice on here most of my cards come from Picstop anyway.

Good link - this helped me identify my fake card. Not that it was hard to tell anyway. Stickers were on upside down for starters.

And if you ever get one, don't just think ah sod it, I'll just use it. It's very unlikely that it'll be a very fast card, and they are very low quality and the pin holes can be mis-aligned.

I've bought 2 cards from eBay, one was fake, the other wasn't, but I made sure I got it from a reputable seller. Anyway, just got a new card delivered today - 4gb Sandisk Extreme IV CF - £44.11 inc. delivery - from Amazon of all places - can't complain :D

I agree an excellent link, with so much of this re badging going on I'll stick to the recommended suppliers, I was just lucky I guess with this one.

Thanks for everyone's input on this

Ditto. On the plus side, I've tested it to full capacity several times and at least it is the full 8GB. It's just slower than the real thing, but fast enough for 100% of my shooting to date, including rattling off 6.5 FPS raw burst after raw burst at Silverstone last Sunday. I've had it for about 8 months and had no problems with it.

At least it was about £10 cheaper, delivered, than at www.play.com, who normally have the best prices.

I didn't bother to file an eBay complaint. Lesson learned though.
