Following on from my other post, has anyone ever bought a battery from ebay, they seem very cheap, if you have what has been your experience ? Thanks

I bought some for my Canon 10D they work quite well, but don't last as long as branded batteries.

Just use them as back ups now.

I bought some ebay batteries and they last longer than my Nikon one. I shot 400 images with AF with 2 of them in my grip and the battery meter didn't move.

I bought an ebay batter for about £6 for my 450d, it works well, but doesn't last as long as the Canon one. Very good as a backup.

I got two of ebay a few weeks ago, only charged them and used them once, but they don't seem to last as long as the original canon one. Hopefully they'll be better after another charge.

Any reccomended sellers ? uk based if possible, thanks for the replies by the way.

I use the 7dayshop ones, not had any problems with them at all. I'm wondering whether to have a few more for the trip to Skomer.

I bought 2 for a tenner HERE

The first charge seemed to last about 20 minutes which I thought odd, but they seem to work fine and the charge time seems to be getting more "normal" each time I charge em !

I've got Phottix batteries from Ebay in the D300 and G10 (also had them in my D80) and they work a treat, I'd only ever buy off one of the well-known sellers though.

Be careful of the cheap "genuine" batteries on Ebay, they are invariably fake....

Once again thanks for the responses, superb, and I have now purchased from one of the links above ;)

I bought two from ebay the other day, marked a uk seller as i was looking for them in a hurry, got an email saying they are coming from Hong Kong so beware about this too.

For rechargeable batteries you need to charge and full discharge three times before you get the best out of them, so charge and discharged full also they will last longer. As a side note if you use a laptop plugged in to the mains a lot remover your batteries it life will be longer

bought one of ebay for my D40 a while ago for approx £6 delivered has been fine as good as the original.

I bought a spare for my D40 from ebay and from what I can tell it lasts just as long if not longer than the official one supplied from Nikon for the D40.

If you're buying a fairly old second hand camera , you're probably better off getting a new 3rd party (e.g. phottix) battery than using the one that came with your camera. Bought 2 D200s recently, and presumably are 3-4 years old, even though they were low use. One official nikon battery only held 200 shots, whereas the new phottix managed well over a 1000 (admittedly a lot were on burst), just reviewing images too a few percent each time with the old batteries, the new phottix stays at the same %!
