Hi,

Could I ask some quick advice, not sure where else to ask.

I have sold a camera on ebay. They have paid. it's a largish sum, just over £400. So it is going RMSD. The person's name they want it addressed to seems fake (its a first name twice (Thomas THOMAS) and it's going to a university hall. When I originally clicked on the name before they paid, the name was different (It was Japanese name) I have messaged the person and they insist the name on the checkout is theirs and the other name was a friend of theirs they ordered something for.

well, me typing it out..... sounds as dodgy as anything

Obviously, I'm worried about sending the item and get the "it hasn't arrived" claim.

Seems a bit dodgy to me, i'd be careful as I've heard stories of people contesting the item once it's arrived and eBay issuing a refund. (there have been a few videos on YouTube).

Yep, I have concerns. But if I cancel the order, eBay will penalise me for it. It doesnt need to be posted until tomorrow, so I will see if I can get anywhere with customer services

I know nowt about selling on eBay but surely if the name with whom you agreed the sale is different to the requested delivery name, is that not a huge RED flag and something eBay would take seriously???

PS and as for sending it to a halls of residence and not a specific defineable 'single door' address that tallies with the individuals identity..................another RED flag

My exact thoughts.
I have reported the issue. So will see what happens.

Can't you cancel the transaction, saying the item is now faulty or damaged, without penalty? I've cancelled items before with no penalty.

I'm cancelling it based on the 'There is an issue with the buyers address' and I've reported it. I just don't want it hammering my metrics on there but I'm also 100% not sending it.

thanks for the replies :)
