Yes
go check your ebay accounts folks.
my mrs has two ebay accounts, and ones been hacked.
got a phone call from a guy asking if we'd bought a phone..
no we havent bought anything on that account for a while.
fortunately, ebay had blocked the account.
it appears some scumbag is trying to buy phones, and wants em shipped to india.passwords on both accounts have been changed. and the suspect one will be closed very shortly.
barstools.
ive changed my password to, to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the warning but this won't be a problem for me as I closed my ebay account a while back when they changed their fee structure...

Okay, you changed your passwords - and thats probably good. How did they get the password in the first place? I would advise that you do virus sweep - perhaps look at your services and see if you have any key logger. Is your patching up to date? Have you accessed the account from an Internet Cafe? What else did you access whilst you were there? Do you have any other accounts anywhere with a similar password? Especially your Paypal account.

It is good advice that before you change a password from a hacked anything account, make sure the new one is not compromised as soon as you change it but making sure you have locked down your PC.

Hopefully not worried you too much - but these people are scum.

For security reasons whenever using ebay or any other net transaction I use a Talk Sport pre-paid debit card and only load it for the particular transaction.
Pete.

Unfortunately that removes any protection you would have had if you'd paid by credit card...

I had a similar thing just before xmas. They managed to hack into my ebay and yahoo email account. I noticed something was amiss when i hadn't received my usual quota of spam for the day but also could not get into my ebay account. Going into my yahoo account i found they had gone in, forwarded all my emails to their ebay account so i hadn't been notified of any password change requests...

Luckily i picked this up on day one....enough time for thm to put bids on 20 laptops! Ebay were really good, cancelled all the auctions ad needless to say all passwords and email accounts have been changed.

I'm not a techie but the only way i can think he got my details was the day before i had been on ebay and got a message as if my internet connect had gone down - it asked me to relog in. No idea about my yahoo account....

There are some nasty XXXXs out there:(

Sounds interesting as my yahoo email has been hacked yet my yahoo account seems perfectly normal apart from the fact I cant get to my email, the engineer bods are trying to get into it to see whats going on as I can see that i have so many new emails everytime I log in but simply cant get to them and the yahoo bods cant either:shrug:

At least if you link it to your paypal account, and pay via paypal with it, it gives you some protection from paypal should the worst happen.

Nobody---but nobody----gets my cc details in cyberspace.Hopefully a bit of research into the seller eases the path.
Pete.
