There is no evidence that any personal information of any nature has been misused,
How can it take over three months from them becoming aware to contacting customers?
I haven't flown with EasyJet for years and I couldn't remember if I ever had an account with them. I think the chance of my info being hacked is low but I thought I would go their site and see what info, if any, there was about me.
I couldn't remember the password so after filling in my email I asked for a password reset and got the message that said something like, "We have sent reset instructionns to your email address."
That was at around 2pm today. I've checked everywhere but still waiting for the email.

Hmmmm! Some sites will say something like "if you are registered on our system you will shortly receive your reset instructions email..." i.e. a generic message that both non registered & registered get.
But if the msg was explicit suggesting that you will get a reset email....... potentially gives one pause to wonder if, at easyJet, your email had been compromised???
Were I you I would login to my email supplier (your ISP etc) and change the email account password.
PS I will be checking all emails on regard to easyJet to settle my mind on my recollection that I never had an account.
I never said that easyJet had or would have the email password.......but my thought was that depending on the sophistication of the way the hacked information could be used to con someone. Plus it was in the context of @Tringa saying some hours had gone by and he had not yet gotten his "password reset" request email.EasyJet don’t have your email account password. I haven’t received an email from easyJet but as soon as the news broke I changed my easyJet account password.
I know things that look like attacks need to be investigated and that can take some time, but the comment by EasyJet -
" ....... we are communicating with the approximately nine million customers whose travel details were accessed to advise them of protective steps to minimise any risk of potential phishing." ,
which suggests they are doing this now combined with the statement that EasyJet became aware of the attack in January is not encouraging.
How can it take over three months from them becoming aware to contacting customers?
