Is there such a thing, ideally free? I have PSE but can't find the stitching function in it. I used to use a freebie that came with a scanner but the latest version doesn't like the source files from the D750 and screws up the merges and saving. Got up to 21 14.3 MB (ish) files to stitch together but can shrink them fairly easily if necessary.

Nod, try Microsoft ICE. Google is your friend. Completely free and it works well. I've just been using it on that big blue glacier that we went to. Doesn't work on RAW files but that's a small price to pay.
A new version has just been released which is better than the previous one.

Cheers, Frank and Martin, will give it a try.

Frank, the 21 shot pan is of that glacier - the baby X Fuji gave it a good stab but if I can get a good stitch from the D750 files, I may get it canvassed.

Hmmm... Telling me it needs something else before it'll download so will have to attack it again later!

ETA, Several, Nick! 7 on this machine but I have 11 (IIRC) on a lappy downstairs. Will have a look on that when I kave a bit more time.

Well for PSE 11 (and possibly older versions), you need to open up all the files you want to use into the workspace, then click on the top tab called 'Enhance', then photomerge, then photomerge panorama (y)

Nod, yes I forgot. I had the old version. Then when I tried to work on that glacier I got the upgrade option. That did tell me that I had to install something else, so I just kept on pressing the yes button. It did everything itself, and the upgrade is worthwile so go ahead and do it. If I can do it anyone can!

Nick, it's PSE 12 I have on this machine (along with a copy of all the shots I want to stitch up!) so it should be a go!

Frank, I'll give it a go when I have some time to fiddle.

I've done a pano from several film shots using PSE 9; it was a doddle and I really liked the result...

In elements 12 (expert mode) go to enhance, then photomerge, then panorama, you load the pics in leave it on auto and job done pretty much.

Tried downloading MSICE again but no joy, so will do the stitching on this machine (PSE) then "stick" it to the upstairs one for printing.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

No joy with PSE either! Found Serif Pan stitcher and that's done it but at a reduced size. Proves it CAN be done, just need to get it done at a higher resolution!

What problem are you having with Microsoft ICE?
I just went to the MS site and tried downloading and it went seamlessly.
For free software ICE is an amazing program and much nicer to use than PSE, with it's attendant horrible User Interface.
I've used ICE quite a lot and always had great results from it, but if I need additional manual control I also have PTGui, although that is a paid for program.

Another vote for ICE. It's very easy to use, very smart in that it'll match and auto fill gaps if any.

Also it can generate a Synth so that you can interact with it. I have an example below:-

I do like ICE. It did struggle with my most recent one though with visible stepping.

Im surprised you are having trouble Nod. When I went to use it after the Iceland trip I was told that the new version was available. When I started to download I was given a message saying that I needed an extra piece of Microsoft software. I was taken to a link and given the download option. Two minutes later the required software was loaded and the ICE download just followed seamlessly.

Microsoft may be PIA but their bits of software always seem to load faultlessly - for me at any rate!

It's the missing software that won't install itself. I'm following the on screen instructions but it just goes round in circles. On this (Win8) and the desktop (Win7) machines. I save the ICE then go to the Visual C++ Redistributable etc download page, tried each and every combination of selections from the options given, hit Next and sod all happens. No option to Save or Run (as suggested by the instructions). Nowt (other than the ICE-2.0.3) in the Downloads folder on the desktop.

Managed using Hugin. Not quickly but the files aren't small. At full res, the pano will be about a foot tall and almost 5' wide.

Always find Photoshop does a good job.
