easy editing sites/software

I am a total beginner looking for some way of editing photos before I get them printed, I used to use photobox but the editing part of the site is no longer available. I just want to be able to do basic stuff like crop, change colours slightly, B&W etc, nothing fancy. What can I use? Must be free (& easy to use)!

it could be something to do with the security settings on my work lap top but I cant get either or those to download, any others? Or any printing websites that you can edit then just order prints (like photobox used to be)

Picasa 3 is a good, basic editor, and does most of what people need. It is non destructive, and easy to pick up. If you download it, make sure you get it from Google, as they make it.

Picasa is something I use regular so another vote from my side.
