Hi
I'm Alison from Leicestershire, lover of great photos and wishing I could take better ones!
I've just acquired a "pre-loved" Canon 350D from a friend, my first ever SLR and am throughly smitten. It came with some lenses and stuff. Goodness knows what they're called but the big one is the size of a road cone. I think the previous owner used it for taking photographs of the moon.
Being new to this place, I haven't found my way around the emoticons yet but as you can probably tell, I need the one saying "dimwit alert!" Perhaps someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.
My main sphere of photographic interest is rescue dogs. I volunteer at my local branch of The Retired Greyhound Trust. Caring for the dogs comes as second nature and is an absolute pleasure but I seem to have been roped in as the "publicity" person (probably because I'm the only one with a camera and a computer - I'm just the last resort!)
I'd like to be able to get the great shots of these dogs that they deserve; it will definitely help them find their "forever" homes more quickly.
I'm a pest when it comes to asking questions and picking brains so I hope you won't mind too much.
This is me with my own, somewhat "flamboyant" boy Sol, aka The Ginga.
