Yes
After tagging along in the film meet thread, I'll pop my head above the parapet and try and set up a meet in Suffolk.

I run a pub in Woodbridge, so would suggest that we can meet here for a brew & a bacon roll in the morning, wander round the town and shoot the iconic Tide Mill & river Deben, then maybe move on the coast / other location (there are several good pub lunches available in scenic spots), then maybe if there's demand we could do a shoot at a WWII airfield?

I'm happy to ensure that there's a stock of 35mm & 120 film available should the need arise (I have stocks of both, as well as some Polaroid & Fuji instant...)

Whose up for this & when suits?

Thinking that perhaps when the days get a fraction longer - late Feb / March perhaps? All comments welcomed...

Chris

i will be keeping an eye on the details ,,,,

Chris, date depending I'm in!

It's probably best to put up a poll for dates. The further in advance the dates there is a better chance of getting cheap train tickets for those that want to use public transport.

I'm in - you thinking Rougham? Many old days of kite festivals and alcohol spring to mind :D

I'd be happy any date really but March, late, would be a good time to aim for light-wise as you say. Given the location too, not wanting a brilliant sunny day (personally) else I might end up taking tourist pix all day.

If its late I March I'm probably in, may mean an overnighter but that's ok. Need to get trains sorted, where's the nearest station?

I'm interested, would probably look to travel the night before to get there for the bacon butties :)

I'm very flexible on dates - late March works for me...

How about Saturday 29th March - day before Summer time starts, and before most schools break up so there should still be 'deals' on travel.

If that suits, I can get some quotes for B&B for those that want to stay over.

Nearest station is Woodbridge which is a gentle 5mins walk from my pub...

Location wise I'm thinking we can stay in the local area (within a few miles radius)

Based from here https://goo.gl/maps/TwWiS (my pub)

Maybe a trip over to Shingle Street (https://goo.gl/maps/fydev)
Lunch could be a Ramsholt - (https://goo.gl/maps/6oU3p)

Airfield trip - I can have a chat to Bentwaters (now a business park) / Parham or Martlesham Heath Control Tower or we can shoot some of the landscapes round here...

Perhaps an evening meal & some drinks to round off the day?

(There's a good selection of shops etc in Woodbridge for those who want to bring their partner and make a weekend of it...)

Does that sound feasible to anyone interested?

I'd really like to do this, if I can. Recently read a Joanna Trollope book that featured Shingle St. (Yes, I know, I probably shouldn't be reading books like that, but Ireally enjoy her writing.)

I don't get on here very often, but just found this thread. I would be interested depending on date.

Hi, I'd be interested depending on dates. I'm in Colchester, so not too far to travel.

I believe Parham airfield has just had a solar farmn dumped on it. Not photogenic.

Didn't know that - I'll pop over and have a look...

Let's go with Saturday 29th March for this, following from the 'poll thread'...

What film does everyone fancy shooting - I can have some 35mm Agfa Vista 200 (the Poundland special, which is actually a Fuji film stock) and some 120 roll film (If I have a few rolls of Portra 160 / Fuji Pro-400H & some mixed B&W stuff) here as well, that should cater for most eventualities I assume?

Will that cater for most tastes?

I will try and be there if a date is confirmed so I can book the day off.

We are working on the 29th March as the date for this... Hope that suits

Sadly can't do that date due to a previous commitment but hopefully there will be others in the East

Looking forward to this - I 'appear' to have just ordered myself a new toy that will hopefully be with me for this...:runaway:

Hasselblad 500c with 80mm - can't wait! #excited ;)

Went up there on Sunday and yes, on one side of the road there's a big solar farm there's still a fair bit of 'unspoilt' landscape to shoot (& the WWII control tower!)

Matty, no, not the Wilford Bridge - I run the Angel just off the Market Hill.

Please say Hi next time you are out this way & hope to see you on the 29th March.

So, as I see it looking at the replies to this thread out likely attendees seem to be:

Strappy
Pragmatist
Paul139
Darwinian_JohnUK
obviously me...Who else can make it on the 29th March? Could you add your name below if you want to be part of this ;-)

If I can get numbers ahead of time I'll try and sort out a decent plan for the day.

Don't forget me, I'll be there work permitting.

I'm still ok for this. Just checked the trains and there doesn't seem to be any engineering works that day so I will probably jump on at Witham.

I'd like to be there but can't tell until nearer the date...

Just a little update for anybody thinking of coming on this meet up from London, it's ridiculously cheap, £8 each way or £12 first class if you want to travel in style.

Well I would like a motorcycle ride to Suffolk, but will only come if it's a warm dry day....anyway if I know the meeting point and time will see how it goes and show you the delights of using a Canon T70 :D

I suppose I'll let a Canon in, as it's film o_O

:nikon:

Hope that the weathers good and you can make it...

Well lets hope the weather is good as the last time I drove a motorbike was 12 years ago and am a bit nervous now.... my motor bike had to be collected to be overhauled at the garage (blocked carbs and seized brakes etc) and should be ready next week...maybe near the time, members can mention what cameras they are\or could bringing\bring e.g. I could bring a Canon T90 or Konica FS1 or Minolta X700 or ETRS etc if members are interested in trying them, otherwise it's my trusted two T70s with different lenses. ;)

T70 was my first decent camera when it came out new in early 80s. Would be good to hold one again.

I'll be bringing out my film cameras... Anyone is welcome to have a shoot with them:

Olympus OM30
Olympus Trip 35
1948 Flexaret IIIa
Hasselblad 500c
Pentax Auto 110
Polaroid SX-70
I'll see if I can arrange for a large format Sinar to be here as well...

Sshh but I might even bring a digital one out as well :-)

As the pace of LF tends to be slower than non-LF, I had assumed we would stick to 35mm and MF. But, just in case the opportunity arises, I'll chuck mine in the boot too.
Will bring a few lumps of glass for 35mm and MF. Then decide at the time which glass and box to use.
