Hi guys

I have £20 to spend on earphones - my mum just hoovered up mine and Henry destroyed them!

So she said she'll replace them. I did like my Senheiser ones but I was wondering what the best I can get for £20 are. I'm wanting to get them online.

Kind regards and thanks in advance.

Sarah

Edit: I use my earphones with my Apple macbook and ipod touch.

I've always been well happy with AKG's.You can get the in ear ones for about £20.

I have the CX 400-II Precision And they are top notch, I previously had the CX 300 and they were fine also but they got stolen :\ Never had an issue with any of them.

These are the ones I've gone for :) Thanks for advice guys

Never a problem :) Have fun blocking out the sound of the rest of the world. ITs why i love them when i have my headphones in I can pretend there is nothing or noone else about

I know it's too late but a :plusone: for the cx500's

My puppy has managed to chew up 3 pairs of iphone 3GS headphones!
I dont know whether to get another pair of Apple ones as they have the inline bit to skip to the next/previous track and answer phone calls and volume as well, or forgo that and get something with better sound for the £20

Just watch out for the jack on the Sennhiesers, i've managed to 'break' two of them, they still work but i need to shove the jack back into the little rubber sleeve.

They sound great for under £20 though.

Funny cause mine take a beating, dogs forcing them running between my laptop and me, my knees, me forgetting i have them in and standing on them, my fella walking across them and still no problem. Maybe im just ace!

I managed to kill a pair of CX300's after 11 months but got my money back without any issue from Play.com (Sennheiser do guarantee them for 2 years by the way) and replaced them with CX300-IIs.

Something to watch is that if you don't push them far enough in then bass is somewhat lacking. I've seen a number of complaints on forums about this and one of my mates made the same complaint until I told him to make sure he'd used the correctly fitting little rubber ear pieces and to push them in far enough. After that he didn't complain about lack of bass

If you listen to music a lot go for sound quality every time!

The buds are fine, it's just the jack can get damanged becuase of he angle it sits at, I put mine in my pocket which doesn't help. Like I said they still work but the same thing has happened on both sets, i'm not resorting to carrying a bag just to put my ipod/headphones into.

Another shout for AKG's

I have the over ear noise cancellation ones, they are awesome.

Ahhhh I see. I usually keep mine in my jacket pocket that is usually a perfect fit, tends to stay a bit safer than lower pockets and bag i think.

locostbob, eBay have a dispute service for that kind of thing.

As for headphones, there's a reason most studios/professionals use Sennhieser.

carefull on ebay... my last set of nice sony are fake! look good but sound pants! :( funny the chap didnt respond to my questions after i bought them! £20 wasted! :(

bob :)

Sorry to say it after you have been had Bob, but NEVER EVER EVER EVER! buy headphones from Ebay. There are an amazing amount of fakes about, some are almost identical to the originals.

Also be careful of sellers on places like Amazon and Play as again there have been cases of this again.

These are what I have at the moment http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/4015

The comply tips are basically memory foam buds that mould to your ear, makes them super comfortable. Also a tenner less than when I bought them, wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.

They look decent Carl, may have to get a pair of them to test. Super-Fi have always been great too, don't even want to think how much I've spent with them on AV Kit!

Don't know how anyone can use the Apple earphones, they are simply dreadful! My Shures recently packed in after many years so I've change to some Beyerdynamics earbuds....unbelievable sound from an earbud!

If you don't mind other people hearing your music, you won't get better sound quality for £40 than a pair of iGrados either.

My current IEMs are Future Sonics Atrio M5s with Shure olive tips.

Excellent quality for the money and they've proven very robust. I've worked my way through quite a few pairs of earphones over the last ten years or so and they're easily my favourite.

At about £100 they are a bit beyond a £20 budget, though.

Well guys, got my Sennheiser CX 400 II Precisions just now.... after being tortured by having to listen to music through the earphones that come with the ipod touch, I can say that the Sennheiser ones are fantastic. Highly recommended by me. :)

ha ha yes the in ear ones. I'm loving your description of them
