right got a few more questions regarding wicks.

I've recently re built my own heads and tried silica, ekowool, ss mesh and cotton wool.

Now are you meant to burn the silica and ekowool before use like mesh?
is any cotton wool okay to use? I've used a few off my wife's cotton wool pads(boiled for about 5min and dried)

Im asking all this as since building my own I've been having some issues vaping.

I've recently been getting a clump in the back of my throat, my throats been overly dry and ive been getting a sore chest. This could all be coincidental.but it seems very suspect that this started the day I started using my re builds.
Having a look online there seems to be a very worrying no of threads over every forum and articles regarding the actual safety of silica and ekowool. But i think with me this seems to be more related to the cotton wicks ive used.

Well Peter, I have always torched my silica and Ekowool before using it, now Just as a matter of a reminder that stuff stays hot for as while after so just to say. The only concerns I have read about silica is the worry of airbourne fibres being inhaled, which should not happen if the wick is saturated in liquid. As for cotton I would be tempted to use organic cotton which is easily available, no washing needed. A lot of the other stuff is bleached which could be the cause even if you have boiled it. Not sure about the sore chest M8, although I was just thinking that as you have had a bit of trouble like you mentioned with burnt tastes due to the wicks, whether you have been inhaling too much of it. If you are recoiling the ordinary evod type heads I would not bother messing with cotton tbh and stick with silica or Eko.

what worried me was i did torch the ekowool. I don't know if i did it to much but let it glow then cooled it and did this 5/6 times, after this if you rubbed it on a towel it would leave white streaks,which ment it was obviously giving off fibers ,so chucked it.

Where did you buy it from Pete? I also forgot to ask what PG/VG ratio do you normaly use, and a lot of people do drink a bit a water whilst vaping as it can dehydrate some people.
 
I have read a couple of posts on different forms about silica and ekowool being a bit powdery after torching. I find of I don't drink when vaping I get a dry mouth and throat. I get all my kanthal from that site, I have got my ekowool from cloud nine, although I'm not keen on it, I find it tastes a bit wacky compared to cotton wool. If you have had a lot of dry hits I agree with rich that that may be the reason to why you chest feels a bit tight.

So been using the Evod since last Saturday-all of a sudden I'm getting mouthfuls of juice when I vape-yuk! What's going on!??tried changing the coil - bit no different! Is it user error?
Help!

I've been thinking about getting a new batt to accompany my itaste or take over from it. Obesely I have vv/vw in that and had been looking at the likes of the vamo as it to is vv/vw and cheap for what it it but the size is what puts me off.
so have been looking at mech mods like the nemesis, ive looked online again but theres so much info I'm struggling to get my head around it. I understand these are single voltage/wattage and you have to build your coils around that, but what power do they actually kick out? 3.7v?

Are they worth getting? I like the look of the nemesis in its smallest configuration and would like to use different tanks from my iclears and t3s's.

Are there any good clones as they are alot cheaper, there seem to be 1:1 nemesis about for £30, recommendations would be great and also for a genesis type atty and batts to go with it.

Hi Peter, yeh Mechs are cool. Not as daunting as you might think so long as a few simple guidelines are noted, they will all be 3.7volts but it`s the amps that you are drawing on them that matters, some useful info HERE Having decent batteries is a must, avoid buying cheap off the bay. Myepack has some 30amp Efest Purple 2100. That is what I am using in my mechs as well as some 10amp efest 26500 which I bought a while back. Some people use a voltmeter to check their batteries whilst using them, you do not want to let them go flat as it messes them up. It wont take long after using a mech and you will notice a voltage drop off due to less vapor production. As for buying a mech there are plenty alwys on the forums in the classies. If you are prepared to wait three or four weeks then Fasttech is the place to buy them cheap, all great quality and work as good as if not better than the original`s. As well as a couple of Nems and a Chi You I also bought the Launcher V2 This just screws in or out to acommodate battery size, and it hits like a train.If you cannot wait to buy then any of the Hcigar stuff from Vape Geek is great and you will always get a good service from them.

Well Steve you can get a build up of moisture in the mouth piece, poking a bit of tiussue in there can sort that out. There are plenty of vids on the Tube, just search gurgling evod clearomiser. There could be two or three simple reasons, so best you check it out and go from there. Sometimes the most common cause is sucking too hard on it, just let it fire up for a brief second and then take slow gentle draws. The silicon cap on top of the coil head acts as a seal as such, if you suck too hard it will pull liquid past that seal and into the mouth piece. Hope this helps, if not get back in touch.
 
Rich answers them again. I have a caravela clone with battery tubes for 18350 18500 18650. It's a cracking mod. Hits like a stream train. It is brass tubes and stainless top cap and switch. Looks great with a Kayfun 3.1 on top.
 
Also I managed to get a bottle of Triphammers latest juice, jaffa cake, all I can tell you is its bloody lovely. You have the orange zing with a subtle chocolate taste and the sponge taste, pecking the bottle smelt just like opening a packet of them. Tim is truely a master of juice making.

Been thinking of having a wee spending spree, does this look okay?
Im also thinking of adding another itaste v3 or either a vamo or svd,which is better out the last two if i decide to go with one of them?

also with the dates above does that mean they get them in 11 days then take another 5 to ship,equalling 16 days before shipping with another 2-3 weeks shipping from what ive heard.
I had considered getting the nemesis from geek but its twice the price,similarly with any of the RBA's, is there anywhere closer/faster shipping that has good cheaper RBA's.


I seem to have got the issues out the way with my ts3 and cotton wicks and have been getting alot better vape than anything else ive bought or used so want to push it a bit more i think.

That all all looks good, the nemesis mod is good, the kracken is a good Genesis mod and the kayfun is excellent. Can't comment on the Vamo or sad as I haven't used them. My understanding of these shipping is the same as yours.

Well M8 the only thing I would ditch from those would be the Kraken, just got shot of mine. Now whilst a few say they are ok they can be a bitch to set up just right, one of my best performers is the RSST I just bought the Fatty V3 RDA which is a Fastttech model Peter. Stick a 1.0hm coil with cotton wick in it and it is pumping out clouds of lovely flavour :D Up to you what you choose regards to another VV/VW, I had the SVD and the circuit board whent tits up after about six montghs, the vamo I had carp thread issues with when I first bought one and swapped for the SVD, maybe I was just unlucky. Stuff from Fasttech usually gets dispatched within the week and most of my stuff I have bought has been withing three days, at the moment though because of the Chinese New Year things may take a little longer as they are catching up on a backlog, but do expect to wait up to a month to get it through your door, it`s horses for coarses when you off set it aginst the price. Just to say do not buy batteries from FT as they can get sent back by the postal system over there which means all your hardware will end up going back with it.
 
Thanks guys I may have to order from geek then or look for a used rba. We leave for China in 5ish weeks so dont want to risk it as I would like to have a play before we leave too. So what vv/vw devices do you all use? I saw the thing about batterys and was going to buy ftom the uk anyway for peace of mind.
 
I have an Evic but am looking to order a dna 30 box mod.

Doing fine, still vaping away. Trying to stay off vape related threads and vaping forums as it leads to buying more and more.
Downside of that is that I've paying more attention to the rest of the forum again so have been buying camera gear.

How are you now? That must be more than 6 months now since your body told you to quit. Hope you are really feeling the benefits now nd haven't broken anything else in the meantime.

Lol! That is the downside to forums, it`s been 8 months now and yeh definately feeling the benefits. It seems like I came out the walking splint too early, walking without it has made the ankle swell right up and was as painful as hell. Everybody was saying thats normal just grin and bear it. Hospital put it back in a splint again yesterday for another four weeks, ho hum.
 
That's not so good, hopefully it will feel a lot better by the time the ground is dry enough to walk on again.
 
Quick update on the leaking Evod-fixed it using an extra silicone seal inverted on top of the coil (YouTube vid)!
Can these seals be bought anywhere?
Couple more questions-what is the best ohm coils to buy for the Evod and why are they rated differently?
Also a heads up- there is a good Vapers stall in Chelmsford market-went there today and bought some different juices to try.

Glad you have that sorted Steve, you see some mention turning that silicon seal upside down to resolve it and people have said that works, others have said they do away with that seal altogether and it works fine. Unfortunately the seal comes with the heads afaik. I only ever bought about 10 new coils so after that I would recoil my own and keep the spare seals. Lower resistance coils heat up a bit hotter and will vapourise the liquid slightly quicker, also should give a better production. At the end of the day it depends what type of liquid you have in it as well, personaly you notice the changes more when using lower ohm coils on a mech or a variable wattage device than you do in a standard evod.Good you found a supplier M8, I think there are a few shops in the Essex area as well.
 
A friend told me of a a shop in Union Street that sells e-liquid and e-shisha e cigs
I thought I would give it a try, first few hits have been good, but will see how it goes and let you know

Another update- inverting the other seal worked for a while but then it worked its way up the chimney and got stuck! Had to prize it out with a paper clip!! Had another brainwave-winding a piece of ptfe tape round the spindle just above the silicone seal-seems to work!
 
Triphammer is now my local shop, great juices and great service, I would recommend that anyone in Bournemouth or nearby make a trip to the shop, I doubt you will be disappointed.

A little update, It's not a shisha but a Sheesh, you can get them on ebay for about £10

Well I'm so far very surprised how good it has been so far, used it all last evening and all day today and the battery only went at about 7.30pm, Good vap. Lot of vaper and the Sheesh flavers are very good and good throat hit

Have to see how long it all lasts but think this is worth a try at the cheap prices you can get it, i think it would suite a lot of people just wanting to try... there are many that are much the same under different names

I want to try the V2 cig at some time but the cost it pretty high for a full kit
Has anyone got or tried them ?

How is everyone doing!?

I've been off them about 3, nearly 4, weeks now. I was already down to 0.8mg and found out I was pregnant - took me about 2 days to stop using it completely. Definitely miss my pear drops liquid though :runaway:

A worthy reason for stopping completely. Alas at my age the chances of it happening to me are slim :rolleyes:
Just treat yourself now and again to a wee bag of per drops.

I'm gradually reducing my nic content, I'm mixing batches of 600 mils at a time with slightly less each time. Not with the aim of quitting completely, I'm happy in the idea that I can mix 0mg and continue the puffing side of the habit. I think I'm more addicted to the ritual rather than the nicotine. If by going down this route I end up stopping completely then fair enough but I'll be keeping some equipment and juice handy for that time I decide the habit won't get a hold of me and it's safe to have a puff. From past experience of stopping smoking that's been about a year after stopping.

I `m the same as you I think Colin but you never know I might just stop it one day. I need to satrt mixing some bigger quantities when I can get back to work and earn some more money.
 
Lots of advantages for mixing large quantities.

It's much easier to measure large quantities of flavouring and if you are 1/2 a mil out it won't really make a difference.

It's costing me £60-70 for a 600 mil batch

The flavours get better as you work your way through them due to increased steeping times.

I'm pretty much sticking to Vanilla custard although after trying some of Mrs Lords Custard cream I converted 200mil of the last batch to my own version of that. My next batch will be all custard cream.

Funny you should mention that Colin, I just gone through 30ml of Mrs Lords CC, I reckon I must have had it put away for a couple of months. At first I did not rate it that much but the extra time for steeping has certainly improved it. VC is my fave to mix, what are you putting with it to give it the biscuit taste?
