Thanks for that Rich-looks nice! What do you think of the Pro tank kit? I like the idea of the clear tank so you can see the e-liquid (is that correct?)

Yeah ive been getting a metallic taste sadly. Im not going to give up though. Will try rebuilding another tonight.

Apparently it can take a few days for mesh wicks to bed in and lose the metallic taste, my type of vaping Genesis tanks aren't the best

so far I've built rebuilt one with ekowool and 32 kanthal(i think) which is at 1.4ohm, this seems okay but still getting burn/dry hits some times.

the issue is I've tried to build one with mesh and it keeps dyeing, i presume its shorting.. it reads fine at 1.4 the 1.8 with the second. but after firing it up one side lights then it dies.

any ideas??

Sorry peter if I have read this wrong, are you saying you are doing a mesh wick build in a T3S clearomiser?

Well I am not saying it`s impossible but taking a gamble building one inside something like that. Personally I would stick to either silica, ekowool or cotton wicks.SS wicks can prove temperamental at the best of times in an RSST or Genesis tank, that coil has to be just so and making good contact. This is usually done by wrapping a small piece of cigarette paper between the wick and the coil, once pulsed a few times till burnt you end up with a carbon layer forming a good contact, the thing with doing it on an RSST for example is that you have a lot of room to work with and can make very small adjustments to the coil to get it heating up evenly.Regarding dry hits whilst using ekowool or silica, that is normaly down to not enough juice soaking through quick enough as it is being vapourised.

A burnt taste is usually under-wicking, although the rubber gromits it's on kayfun atties don't help either. Try using less/thinner wick, or if you're using a flavour wick on top of the coil, try leaving that out. It's quite easy to pinch the ends of the wick, if they're too tight in the slots, which restricts juice flow. The optimum is just enough wick to stop the juice flooding through the slots. If it gurgles, you need a slightly thicker wick.

Cotton wool wicks better than silica, IME, so maybe try that.

whats the difference in the wire's the ribbon i thought would be alot finer but just seems to be flat and about the same as the kanthal, and what difference does the nickel wire make.

Umm! That link is to somebody`s tattoo Peter. As for wire it seems like you got some Flat Ribbon wire there, you will not need that in a clearomiser. Have a look at this chart which will give you the different resistances to different wire, but it is based on the length in cm of the wire used. Built another mesh that seems okay. Still has a metallic/ chemical taste slightly but not as bad as the first I made..is this normal.

I also built a second cotton one and this seems great has a funny taste for a few vaoes and now seems great. Both of these ive added extra wraps to get to 2ohm each.
I always seem to get a better vape at higher ohms which seems to be the opposite off everyone else.. when I bought heads the 2.1ohm always worked/ lasted longer than the 1.8 ohms ones.

Ah right cheers Peter. Mesh wicks can taste like that for a while but should go away after a bit of use. Not sure if you done it but after you have torched the mesh a couple of times, roll it into shape and torch again, then drip a few drops of juice on the wick and light it, best to do that a couple of times also. It just gives it a good oxidised coating.
 
Okay thanks. I torched it 5/6 times after I rolled it and cooled it in between. But didn't juice it and torch it, just drip juiced it and fired it a few times open before putting the tank on.

Seems that its now working crap after leaving it over night. But the cotton is great. I added a new out thr packed head into another and it doesnt compair.
Think I might just stick to the cotton wicks.

How long should the wire on the heads last? Obviously I can easily replace the cotton as that seems to be the bit that dies with my bought heads.

Well the wire should last for a good week or two and even longer. I have had this one on the RSST for a month now, it is .28 Kanthal and then I twisted it together using a drill. This one came out at 0.8ohm, but as you can see from the vid it gives a decent vapour.

custard and vanilla flavours seem to be very popular. There was a guy vaping vanilla when I was out a few weeks ago and it did smell quite nice. Might chuck one in with my next order to try.

I only vape menthol. Pluid or fruit salad sweets. Recently a mix of the last two has been my daily.

I enjoy anything so long as it is decent liquid and tastes like it should do. Have you tried TMax`s Snake Oil yet Pete?
 
No its been on my list but have not yet got around to buying any. I bought 2 bottle of Pluid after it was posted as being in stock on here and luckly got more from the next shipment after. I actually bought 4 bottles and 2 cutter last time and have two bottle left so need to get some more cutter as I just filled a tank with my last cut stuff.

I might try and get some snake oil in for the next order's. .is it not Wednesday he ships?

I need to get some more fruity aniseedy type juice, I must admit I did like Mrs Lords druid quite a lot. Yeh Snake oil shipment is on the 12th of this month.
 
Yup tried em all M8, I do like Snake Oil but I leave it for a good month after getting it to steep even more, but the druid is just different.
 
If you like custard you should try Triphammers fizzy triffle, it's not over the top custard flavour and I'd one of my adv's

on the liquid side i nearly ordered the fizzy trifle today, but decided to get the tripphammer version on fruit salad's. ended up spendning £25 between that and cutter for my pluid. so will have to hang off on others this week.
Think i will go in for the next snake oil order and try the fizzy trifle or similar.
 
got my triphammer fruit salad in today, and so far im not greatly impressed. will let it steep for a while but the flavour isn't great just now, doesn't taste anything like fruit salad sweets to me :(

still think that the wickedeliquid version is the best I've tried and a lot cheaper as well, though i cant find reviews bar there site of any off there liquids. Hopefully it will get better with time
 
Let it steep, all trips juices improve with steeping,

Well thats good Steve, well the coil should last a week or two depending how heavy you vape really. You will either get a big drop off on vapour production or you will notice it in the taste of the liquid. If you use a sweet type liquid such as a Vanilla Custard or chocolate then they will gunk up a bit quicker. They can be run under hot water to clean them and then left to dry off naturaly or with a hair dryer some people use. Once washhed and dried they can be pulsed a few times before refitting, you might get away with this a couple of times on each coil. Some use one of the battery operated ultrasonic baths to give them a good clean, you can if you want to recoil and wick the heads yourself.

No probs Steve, as he mentions he thought the rebuild was better than the stock head. And they usually are to be honest, if you do have a go at building your own later down the road then supplies are easy enough to get hold of, and making a coil of between 1.5 - 2.0ohms will give you a good vape.

Glad it is doing you a turn Steve, there are quite a few varios tanks available nowadays which perform really well, the only downside is that whilst they give good vapour production and taste, it is offset by the fact you will get through more liquid. Horses for coarses but if you mix your own that brings the cost right down. What Nicotine strength are you vaping Steve?
 
At the moment I go for 12mg-but sometimes I think I might up the strength,the EVOD is light years ahead of the skycig system!
Have you any recommendations for juice? I vape menthol but fancy trying some other flavours-but good god the choice is endless!

Well the list is endless, for a hard to explain fruit type menthol come aniseed it would have to be SNAKE OIL It has top reputaion as far as liquids go, as you can see the next lot to be ready will be 19th of this month. If you did not like it for some reason then you will have no probs getting shot of it at asking price, as someone somewhere would have ran out andf have to wait a couple of weeks for the next batch. There was a bit of a list in this thread somewhere Steve, you will have to dig about to find it though. I personally like the Blue Mist and Beatle Juice from Herbal Tides another place is Mrs Lords The druid from there is nice, have not tried the Kendal Mint one yet but it is on my to do list. I do not think I have heard any bad reviews about any liquids from Kraken Jim is a good vendor and offers top service, so just a couple to go on with Steve.
