E-Cigarettes

Right I may have asked this before, but whats the reason for wanting lower ohm heads?
I decided to buy some 1.5ohm heads for my i clear 16 instead of the 2ohm I normally use. But even on the lowest wattage or voltage setting they seem to burn very quickly with every juice I've got if this happens with a 1.5 what use would a 1 or less ohm head be?

As a general rule Peter if you are getting a burnt taste then there is not enough juice getting to the wick quick enough. If you want an understanding of coil ressitance and power settings, take a look at Phil` video it is well presented. It is actually about the DNA 20 chip but when you get to 8 minutes you will get a better understanding. Well worth watching all of it imho.

Well this does not look good if it goes ahead http://t.co/9tOVx1U8NF
Quite a bizarre one this week. No age limit, tobacco branding allowed, yet still no refillables. It's almost as if they met a tobacco lobbyist on Monday.

Last weeks version was more influenced by the Fertin Pharma letter, scaremongering about nicotine toxicity. There doesn't appear to be any identifiable direction, here. Weird.

The Njoy came and then died within the hour or about 30 vaps (thats the second one to do the same) I wondered why they don't give any indication as to how long it should last but 30 vaps, that's really bad

It's some sort of junk being sold out of a suitcase by Del and Ronny

I really dislike those things. I think they are over-priced and nowhere near as effective as they imply they are. By saying "Costs less than regular cigarettes, depending on usage" it would be fair to expect them to last the equivalent of approximately 15 - 20 regular cigarettes.

You might want to test their money back guarantee as 30 puffs falls well short of the 4 hours use many experience. :)

I smoke and I'm addicted, unfortunately, but I'm not sure I want to explore e-cigarettes as an alternative. They still deliver nicotine which is the addictive component in tobacco, and I think it's only a matter of time before they're regulated and taxed to prevent any 'loss' to the exchequer caused by people switching to them.

I'm going to try and stop smoking again, once and for all, without using a substitute that's still addictive. I'd rather just be free of all of it.

Best of luck Martyn, I really hope you succeed.

You're right that there's still an addiction involved with nicotine in e-cigs and also the habit side of it too. I would rather be free of nicotine altogether, but it's a far less harmful alternative to smoking for those of us still addicted. I'm hoping that quitting nicotine in the future might be easier to do from e-cigs than from tobacco.

Very true Martyn and i think alot of us would like just to be free of the addiction full stop, for me i switched to ecigs in June at the high level of 24mg nic content, it's now december and i'm down to around 8mg nic, my body has told me when to lower the levels from feeling sick or lightheaded, i do wonder if at some point the lowest will be to much and then i will have nic free juice and concentrate on the habit of having the ecig around

Well im still off the cig's it's been 8 weeks now ,Its a good job i decided to quite I had to have a pacemaker fitted yesterday-I was Rushed to hospital on Monday with a heart problem .

I have been haveing test done but it came to a head Monday and they found the problem although it might not be tobaco related we all know that would not help one bit.

by the way most of my juce i mix with next to no nicotine and often dont add any at all .

Rob.

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted. To be completely frank, I switched straight back to my 'beloved' Camel Classic as soon as I got to SA. I think they're banned in the UK because of the high tar and nicotine content.

I probably haven't picked the best time for this because there's a bit of stress in my life right now, and smokes are much cheaper (£2/20) here, but I guess the "best time" really is now - or I'll find an excuse to keep putting it off again - and the lower cost just means that killing yourself slowly costs a lot less!

this may be a stupid question but what sort of vapour production do you guys get? ive been watching loads of videos about stuff and i seem to get no where near as much vapour as you see on these videos. does the camera pick it up alot more?

The camera does pick it up extremely well plus the distance between camera and reviewer is often very small.

Vapour production is influenced by many different factors, some of which also result in loss of flavour. Low ohms, high watts, dual coils, big airholes, high VG juices etc.

If you're not using the same equipment and juice that person in the video is using, then it's a moot point anyway. How you build and position your coils can vary.

All,

Their has been an increase in incidents regarding E-cig battery's and chargers !

A lot of shops are selling cheap versions of the various top brands that are available, the issue is using the wrong USB charger !!!

It would appear that people are using a 5v charger that is not reduced down to the required 4.2v, you would not think that 0.8v can make a difference but it does, on Thursday night I attended a house fire which happened to be a very good friend of mine and the first floor was completely destroyed along with all there Xmas presents for there children, after extensive investigations it became clear that it was as a result of the above which she brought in a shop in Soho, London.
It was brought as a kit however the charger was not comparable with the battery in terms of voltage !!!

BE AWARE PLEASE !!!

Same thing happens with iPad minis, if you charge them with an incorrect charger.

Can't wait for Tuesday, just ordered a Kayfun lite plus, just had my evic repaired, so all is good

Nice one Dave, the KFL is good piece of kit. I treated myself to two Nem clones and a Chi-you clone :D The chi kicks like a mule with the RSST on top. My SVD has started to play up, battery charge indicator is up and down like a Donkey`s wotsit. I gave it a good spray of electrical cleaner inside which seems to have done the trick. I also have on the way an XPV I read over thirty pages on e-cig forum from people who have bought one and not a bad word about it, cannot wait to try out the DNA20 chip.Happy New Year to all.

Vape on Live long

It arrived, top service from cloud 9 vaping. It's shiney and dead easy to build. Plus I meet Mr triphammer this morning, so got a few juices as well. Can't wait. Going to have a go at building some micro coils later then drop the New juices.

How you getting on with the new toy Dave? You should be producing plumes of vape :D I just got some Voodoo wool from Stealthvape. This stuff is great, poke a small driver or whatever through the centre of the wick and then wrap your coil, you end up with a tube in the middle which acts as a good method for drawing the liquid in onto the coil.

Rich, I am loving it, I only did a standard coil at 1.9 ohms on ekowool and it does produce fantastic plumes of vape, I got a 3.1 clone as well as I liked it so much, you really cant tell the difference in build quality. I have been watching a fair bit on youtube and also talking to a few guys down here and am going to have a go at micro coiling them at 1.2-1.3 ohms with cotton wool wicks later. I will report back on how I get on.:)
I have also fallen in love with triphammer's juices they just blow my mind away and Tim is a top bloke. I have found my new bricks and motar shop.

Re coiled both with micro coils and cotton wool one at 1.3 ohms one at 1.5 ohms, which is only 0.1ohms off of what I was aiming for, going like absolute steam trains. I love them.

It does make all the difference Dave, I have the Hcigar Kafun 3.1 clone and for the price of it I might well get another shortly.

I think my new bricks and mortar shop are getting some, I will have to look.

I can't seem to get the hang of microcoils, but I'm a complete convert to cotton wool on a simple 3-4 wrap coil. The flavour is so much better and more consistent than silica/ekowool. I won't use anything else, now.

I have been using the twisted Kanthal John for a micro, it`s a breeze really. I know I know it`s Rip :D Just jump to 1.09 to see how to do it if you have not already tried.

I've been using Skycig menthol cartridges for about a year now-is there a cheaper alternative regarding cartridges that are compatible with the Skycig system?

Steve

Rich, don't leave it there write a small tutorial on how you twist the kanthal and it looks like a flat coil so how you do that as well.

Edit just seen it's a video not a pic of your wick

I use normal 0.25 or 0.30mm kanthal. I understand twisting lowers resistance, but does it do anything else? Edit. Sorry, I should have just watched a bit more of the video - hard to do when it's Rip :)

Here's a little video of dual micro-coils in an Origen dripper. Footage at 400fps taken with my Nikon J1 - this is a photography forum after all :)

John, the biggest help I have found for microcoils is using a jewellers screwdriver, approx 2mm in dia to wrap the coils on and use the shoulder where the shaft meets the body of the screwdriver to wrap them as I can get them reasonably tight and I can compress the coils against the shoulder to get them tighter.
