E-Cigarettes

Try Cotton Dave if you have not already, it`s great imo. Are the ss wicks hollow that you are doing Dave, I am sure I have seen them done with a wick inside also?

I have some cotton wick I will do it with that. Back in 10 with photos.

This will be interesting to see... it can add to the confusion

Right I am back. First things first, I have only been vaping for about a month and it is only this week I have really started wicking and coiling. I will say that my coils on this are not as neat as I normally try and get them but I have no hotspots so they are what they are.:D

OK here we go

Above photos showing the top deck of the tank the middle pillar is the positive and the outer pillar is the negative. The hole in the deck infront and between the 2 pillars is the wick hole and the large screw at the back is the fill hole screw that can also be used as a second negative post if you build twin coils. There is a second wick hole behind the terminals which is blanked off with a grub screw.

The above shows 2 pieces of 3mm cotton wick with 3.5 turns of .20 kathal wire

OK I have trimmed on of the wicks down so that it is just there for the wick.

Wick installed and just before I trim the top of the wick. The hardest part I find is connecting the coil to the terminals and wrapping the coil the main reason for using the 2 lengths of wick is I find it far easier to wrap the coil without hotspots due to the size of my fingers:)

This coil is running at 1.5 ohms and touch wood seems ok.

As I said at the start I have only built a few and some have been a nightmare so I had to start again while others have been ok.

Agreed. Dave and Rich are taking this to a new level. I genuinely don't understand a thing in your post Dave but this is down to my complete lack of practical competence :)

Anyone have any ideas why a liquid would... caramelise in a tank? I haven't had it happen in a long time but it's just popped into my head. It was with a sweet liquid (can't remember which one) a family member bought from a shop and I'd only had it around 2 days, it was freshly made up and it just started caramelising in my tank. Going very dark and very thick ruining the tank and tasting like crap. I'm always really paranoid about buying sweet liquids from anywhere other than EV now!

Survived the trip to Amsterdam while still avoiding cigarettes! Bizarre situation to be in though when the guy with the 2ft bong is giving me strange looks. Took the MVP 2 and my Igo L dripper. very pocketable set up.

That's weird... i would guess a dodgy batch maybe... i'm assuming it was only that one bottle?

Most juices in tanks will darken over time, from a combination of steeping and deposits building up from the coil/wick. That said, it shouldn't taste bad. There shouldn't be anything in the juice that would caramelise, as such. Was it an "organic" juice by any chance? I'm not sure I trust them.

No, not organic. It was a 70/30 vg/pg mix from a shop in London I think he said. I know they darken over time but I'm talking like.. put the liquid in, vape for no more than 5 minutes and the colour starts to turn. After 20-30 minutes, it was practically jet black (started off almost clear with a slight yellow hue) and so thick I couldn't clean it out the tank.

That seems a bit odd Toni, sounds like it was just soaking up some deposits from inside the mizer somewhere  Can you remember whereabouts in London the shop was or better still the name of it, you sure they bought you vaping fluid and not aromatherapy oil :gag: ;)

I don't remember and neither does he! It was within the first couple of weeks of me starting out so a while ago, it just popped into my head whilst I was browsing the forum. Definitely a vaping fluid

I know nothing really Phil, and relying on people like Keith, John and Barry to lead me forward.

The only thing I can think of are:

Acidic flavour reacting with clearo?
Old/burnt wick?
Dirty clearo (mold)?

Only thing I'm sure of is don't vape it.

It was a very sweet liquid, I want to say toffee or caramel? Something along those lines. When it happened, I assumed the wick had burnt out so tried it in a new tank and the same thing happened so I threw it away. Very odd and made me really wary of buying online!

That does seem odd Toni, now I am not telling you how to suck eggs  or a PV, but perhaps it may have been that the liquid had not soaked completely into the wick before you fired it up  and the wick burnt. Do you prime your wicks and leave for a couple of minutes to soak before vaping on a fresh coil Toni?

Yeah, I have done since day one! I don't get it either

That`s fair enough Toni, just down to a dodgy liquid then I suppose?

I guess so! Really weird.. will probably just stick to the shop I go to or recommended online retailers!

I've got 12mg sherbet in now :D

i hope mine won't be too much longer either!...

Well thanks to the lovely rich i am now trying out an iclear30 and as stated elsewhere:lol::lol: it's huge.... but i think i maybe converted to the bigger tank too, so my problem is, it looks silly perched on my teeny ego battery! i was originally going to get the itaste vv v3 thingy but will it sit flush on that? if not what should i go for? bearing in mind i still will be buying my coils etc, i also like my normal plug in and charge style, although i do want variable

suggestions?

Also who would like me to forward on the vapefest 2013 juice to try 18mg..don't ask me what it tastes of, it's weird and i can't describe it

The iTaste isnt small, heres a photo with a Kanger Protank2 on top with the tele extended for the 18650 battery...

And for comparison a Provari with a Davide top and Nova on the side...

If your going to stick with it I would recommend getting the best you can afford as it is worth every penny and you dont want something breaking down on you leaving you with no spare.

In the long run the money you spend on a device is going to be paid for by not smoking in next to no time!

I don't mind spending a bit of money although i will have to be sensible, and i don't want to fall into the trap of spending for no reason or because it's shiny... no scrap the last bit i like shiny... which itaste is that?

Itaste SVD, they're very good but after a short stint have gone back to the provari mini which is a much better build quality.

There not the most compact of things are they...do you not get some weird looks walking about with that thing. I get enought with a standard ego , never mind what looks like a mini dildo/vibrater :o

Just finished mixing another small batch.

Smoked Plum, Absinthe, Rasberry, Mango. I think I shall name this one " Public Enema #1 "

That's not the iTaste T was on about. The V3 is much smaller, it's more the size of an ego batt.

Ah yes that's the one keith... do bigger clearos/tanks fit on it tho? i'm not sure i want a huge battery tho the bigger tank i quite like

i was just looking at the provari mini, seeing as they still looked relatively girly with the colours..... way out of my price range tho so maybe i will be sticking with my original thoughts

I think provaris are stupidly over priced.I don't care how well they're built, the paint chips off them over time, they don't do VW, and the likes of the Vamo do the same job, just as well, for a fraction of the price.

I am exactly the same. Lots of reading, advice on ukvapers and youtube.

An almost panic at no battteries working!!..

Went to change over battery and it didn't work.. thought it was the evod clearo at first because i have just put fresh juice in 2 but both didn't work, tried other battery nothing..

plugged both in to charger (seperate times ofcourse)and no charging light on either:(.... run upstairs as my son has an ego battery too and put his clearo on my battery and one fired to life, that seems to be charging now but my other one seems dead:'(

The iclear30 wouldn't kill my ego bats would it???

just hoping the other one does actually charge or i am going to be without vaping:(
