Sold a item Friday week ago ,posted by tracked 48 they attempted delivery on Monday then Tues no answer I messaged the buyer who said he was at work so missed delivery , I assumed he would sort it out for today Saturday but no it still appears to be in the Royal Mail depot and as we don’t get paid till item received I’m left out of pocket and waiting ,,this has got to be the worst idea they have ever come up with.. it’s not a great deal of money so won’t break the bank . But wtf induces people to buy things when they aren’t going to be able to receive them ? Or am I missing a scam somewhere along the line ??
 
That's the exact reason I no longer sell on eBay?
As for the people who buy things but not being available to receive them, they the same as those who don't understand what the indicators on a car are for.
 
I’ve just sold most of my gear on eBay when I downsized. It was a nightmare!
I ended up putting the expensive stuff as payment on collection, took longer to shift but at least I had a hold of the gear until collected. This is why I took a hit and traded in to Wex, that didn’t go too well either.

You will still get paid, eventually, if they don’t leave feedback.


It’s a bit of a rip off when you buy things too with the eBay surcharge. As a seller you now have no fees but may have to reduce your price to sell items to counter the eBay buyer fee.
Don’t like the idea of selling my own items and having my details forwarded to hmrc either! You soon reach the threshold with camera gear. I’ve already paid tax on the money used to buy the stuff and selling on at a loss.

EBay is slowly dying.

Best stop using ebay , I did years ago.
 
Playing devils advocate here, but if you work its likely you will be out when the postie calls.
Plus apart from Saturday the sorting offices are often only open for a couple of hours in the morning.
Our delivery office was shut down and its now a fifteen mile round trip to the nearest one.

Agreed Its not an ideal rule, but I assume it was to encourage sellers to post promptly.
 
I was speaking to someone who sells on the evil bay. Apparently sales are well down since these changes. It is felt Vinted are taking a lot of their market.

I suppose it depends on what you're selling, I've got a friend who sells models and diecast, sales are way down, I'm selling camera gear, and on average I'm selling around 10 items a week.
 
Why is this an ebay issue? Whatever platform you use would have the same issues with RM, they would not have delivered as he was out. Down to him to go to post office and pick up etc...

Yes, I know ebay wont pay until delivered but that seems fair enough - think Vinted is the same.

Sold a few high value things there of late and been perfect
 
Vinted is the same too when spoke to a friend just now.

Personally the few items i have sold on ebay, have been snapped up quickly and never had any issues personally.
However i do know people who have had problems.
Think its hit and miss, and likely to be the same on most platforms now if investigated it.
 
yep, sold a mobility scooter motor last week, lots of emails about it not being the same one he needed, whats the measurements of this that and the other (photos and measurements all sent) then asking can he send it back if it doesn't fit??? :eek::oops: :$ I said no, buy at your own risk. He decided to buy on that basis but of course started a return saying it didn't work instead!

Of course pillocky ebay found for him as soon as the motor was returned to me yesterday and took the money from my account to refund him.
I of course have videoed a bench test today where the motor works perfectly, so he's lied! I'm appealing the decision and will expect to get the money again and find in my favour, but the system is set up against the seller no doubt about that.
 
Well the buyer was supposed to pick it up yesterday but it’s still in the rm depot !.I should get paid on the 5th whatever but I simply can’t understand why he bought it .
