Anyone got this or tried it out,any better than LR?,it would be great if anyone has had a trial with it.:)

DXO 9 is great, I am just getting used to it.

I currently have used lots of DXO products in my Post processing business.

Hopefully I am going to write a short comparison with LR.

Currently I use LR, DXO, Aperture (mainly), Aftershot Pro. and of course PS.

A comparison would be great, looking forward to that.:)

At the moment i am playing around with the trial version & i am not sure if would prefer this software.

Really good software, just overpriced!

Depends on your perspective I suppose... for me, Optics Pro 9 is worth the price for the PRIME noise reduction alone... a generation ahead of the best of the rest and can't have been cheap to develop.

To the OP... LR and DXO have different strengths and the output from each is very different. You need to trial DXO extensively, comparing the output with Lightroom and seeing which you prefer.

I personally use both, DXO acknowledge that Lightroom has some advantages over Optics Pro 9 (particularly in image management) so have a suggested workflow (CLICK) that allows you to base yourself in LR and edit in Optics Pro as required. I mainly use this when I want to use PRIME on a noisy image.

Thanks for your replies,i have been using LR for a few years now & i do find it quite easy to use now.
I thought i would try DXO to see if there was any huge advantage over LR,but i would not buy it just for better noise reduction.
So i can,t see that i can justify having both so i will probably stick with LR although i am enjoying trying DXO at the moment.:)

Well i think i will be sticking with LR5:)

Currently its working well.

Some initial thoughts.

LR is easy to use for me.
DXO is very similar.

DXO can be very automated and gives good results out of the box.

Prints seem better from lightroom (although I may not have mastered colour profiles in DXO) I print everything myself.

For my next wedding my workflow will be.

Lightroom for the proof stage.
DXO for the chosen images.
PS for any final edits (but I hardly get out of LR)

For my landscape work, all is now done in DXO.

If you have lightroom 5 do I think the extra spend is worth it?
Watching your pennies then NO
If you have some spare cash yes.

Will your clients notice? Probably not.
