DVD to Ipod

Just got me a new 160gb classic ipod.

Does anyone have any recommendations for software that converts my DVD film into the required format ready for me to import into itunes. Either free or payed for.

Came across a few freebies but I'm always wary of downloading any old crap.

Haven't tried it but came across this guide a while back:

Looks reasonable enough to trust the free SW they are recommending.
