Just made the move from PC to Mac and now I'm looking for all the bits n pieces software such as a DVD slideshow maker for Wedding clients. I used Proshow for PC and now need something similar for Mac.
All suggestions and recommendations welcome!

Hi Jim

I did a dvd for my sisters wedding after i moved over to mac.
Just used idvd (or was it i movie?) and it worked ok

iMovie will take your images, and convert them to a quick time movie. You can use a variety of transitions make the change from one scene to another. Using the inbuilt Ken Burns effect you can get pan and zoom effects. Looks very professional.

However if you want a more "conventional" slide show use iDVD.

Both come as standard on Mac

Thanks guys.

Just discovered these late last night when I picked up "the missing manual" book!

Ooooooh what's iDVD?

I don't have that on my imac, wasn't aware iMovie could do slideshows, I've been struggling trying to get lightroom to do one.

I created a slideshow in iMovie then took it into iDVD and tidied it up then burned as DVD. Great!

Can you actually buy iDVD?

I can't find it on the mac app store.

Now the other day when this was posted I would have swore that it didn't because it was no where to be found in the applications folder....... 20 seconds after I posted tonight I checked with apple for software updates as you do........ :)

Blow me down with a feather.....there's an update for iDVD to take it to 7.1.1 and one for my epson printer. Now here's the odd bit........ iDVD 8 seems to be shipped with iLife 11 which I don't have and I checked for updates the other week when the mac app store launched and there was no iDVD 7 update then. :suspect:

Go to the applications folder and look in there. If not you've probably got iLife 09 tucked away with the installation disk I think it's on that.If so then install it

iMovie should be on the menu bar at the bottom it's a black star with yellow edges

I ran the update and i now have iDVD

I wonder if I'd managed to delete part of it at some time.......... :D

Didn't I do a tutorial for iDVD?

Darren - can I be Sunday night lazy and ask for the link?

No problem....

My Apple/Mac OS tips thread is <HERE>.

If you look through the list there are lots of tips....

A nice extra tip for you is this .......

Hold [CMD] and press [F] which brings up the finder box, now type "iDVD" into this box. The screen will scroll down to highlight tips 224-232 which is the iDVD tutorial.
