Hi all.
Looking at getting a DVD recorder (won't be an expensive one)
and what I want to do is to record programs from the TV on it, but watch DVD's on my Hitachi AX-M140 all in one machine, due to the nice sound quality.

I have Virgin digital, and a pretty old TV with two scart sockets on.

What I'm asking is, would it be possible to have this configuration?

TIA, Andy

Probably.

You don't say how much you want to spend, a couple of weeks ago I bought a Panasonic DMR-EZ27 from Argos for £99, it has a freeview tuner in it which works well with the EPG for recording (just look up the prog you want and hit enter) It also has multiple input and output types, 2 scarts, DV in, AV in, AV out, S video out, HDMI out. You should be able to get what you want from that selection. It also will record onto just about any kind of DVD including dual layer discs.

Hiya.
That sounds nice, but I don't think she'll let me even spend that much tbh.....

Sorry - probably looking at around £50 or so.

You can pick up an analogue one for as little as £35 but for about £60 you'll get better quality (though still analogue).

Around £70 for a Umax from http://www.svp.co.uk

Having Xvid/DivX/MPEG4 playback capability is nice.
(Don't ask me why ;-)

Daewoo DVD recorder + 80GB HDD, freeview, sky or cable set top boxes can be plugged into it. Also has Timeshift and Videoplus. Multiformat disc capable.
£59.99 from Asda (not online/shop only).

Works with my Virgin box and an old TV with only one scart. :)

Ah cool

Thanks for the advice.
