Just found some of these in my pc cupboard whilst looking for something else, any one know what they are used for ?

You can add and delete stuff just like old floppies, using a compatible dvd burner or tv dvd recorder.

It was a Panasonic dvd format to compete against -r and +r (and re-writeables). Problem was early ones came in a caddy and were expensive. The good thing about them as previous poster said is the way they could be written to.

Thanks both, so basically a bit like rewritable discs ?
Worth keeping or should I just bin them ?

If you don't want them stick them in the classifieds and someone will buy them - I use them for backups, for one, so they do have their uses

They are useful because unlike DVD-RWs they can be re-written to, theoretically, thousands of times before they degrade. Like a floppy disk.

But as I've said - your dvd writer must be DVD-RAM compatible. Or for tv progs etc - a Panasonic tv dvd-hd recorder. Don't know of other brands that may write to them. I guess you won't be going to this expense anyway.

Hi Ingrid, how many do you have?
