Even though my computer is always on my desk top the amount of dust it attracts is amazing. Below fan covers

A PC will collect dust no matter where it is located.
One of the biggest problems is with people locating them on carpet.
A quick hoover up a couple of times a year will sort it out.
The biggest problem is too much dust blocking the fans on CPUs and GPUs.
Back in the day when I repaired computers over heating was the main problem caused by it.

yes even always being on the desk I regularly get rid of internal dust. those fans inside collect quite a lot

Weird. This house it really dusty (open fires don't help) but computers need dusting every 2-3 years.

Does your PC have case fans?
It's more of a problem when you have a fan pulling air in and another one pulling air out.

Yup. And separately a Laptop with i7 requiring significant cooling too. When the laptop had throttling issues it was frustrating there was no significant dust that could be removed.

And don’t forget, most of that dust, is dead skin

I upgraded my laptop to 32gb ram earlier this year and I was also surprised at the lack of dust inside it.

Basically, a computer with a fan is just a vacuum cleaner on Valium. :naughty: :coat:

Being constantly on will definitely make matters worse.
Fortunately the Raspberry Pi 4 I use for routine surfing/streaming doesn't need forced air cooling, so gets very little dust.
