Dust and cleaning - HELP!

I have visible dust through the view finder of my Canon 400D although the lens itself is clean (or at least appears to be). A careful inspection of the inside of the body doesn't reveal anything immediately obvious either.

I didn't really fancy fiddling beyond the mirrored surface before asking you guys for some advice. Does anyone have any suggestions to what may be the cause of my problem? Can it be solved?? And how???

Probably dust on the focusing screen (the translucent horizontal surface above the mirror). Give it a blast with a rocket blower. If that doesn't work, take the camera in for a clean.

Hi. I had the same on my 350d. I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned but could not get rid! The rather large hair was driving me nuts! However it wasn't on the sensor or mirror or lens, it was actually on the immediate inside of the viewfinder, so as it wasn't affecting the photo's, I have now learned to ingnore it. (well not quite, every time someone else takes a peek through the viewfinder, I get 'youv'e got problems there mate!) :bonk:

Tried a rocket blower, and there doesn't seem to be anything on the focusing screen. Any idea's where I can take the body in for a clean?

Removing the whole pentaprism part of the camera isn't too difficult (nor is putting it back together before anyone asks) - just need to remove the outer shell, unclip about 4 or 5 cables and then the prism virtually lifts off and you can clean it yourself

As simple as it sounds, I think I'd prefer to get it professionally looked at (only because I know what I'm like); any recommendations?
