Need to clean my sensor as the rocket blower is not getting it off. Wondering which combination is best. Sensor Swabs with Eclipse or Dust-Aid pads?

which way did you go ... Eclipse or Dust-Aid pads

bit of a mine field looking at all the cleaning kits available

I use dust aid. Mainly because I needed to clean my sensor and that was what Calumet recommended. Seems to work a treat. I've done the 5D and the 1Ds with it checking before and after and it does seem to do a good job. Not too tricky to use either as it's a dry system.
 
I used Eclipse 2 + swabs on my 5D, worked ok.
Now I have an 'Arctic Flutterby', not used it yet, (weather).
Also used my air brush which was ok.

I use dust-aid, I've used sensor swabs/eclipse and sensor brushes, but find dust-aid the most effective.

I will put good money - and a lot of it - on the first time you use that butterfly thing you will drag oil from the edge of your sensor all the way across it. It happened to mine when I used one - 3 times. It has also happened to plenty of other people. So have plenty of Eclipse and swabs and time handy to clean it up afterwards.

I have been reading a lot about sensor cleaning and getting more confused as to which system to use ..

seems like the Arctic Butterfly has caused more problems than it solved ..

Eclipse looks like its used buy a lot people but being a wet system Im still not sure

so will go with the dust aid kit and keep everything crossed that it works out..

Many people will say they have had great success with the butterfly or similar, bu then they probably haven't used it on an oilpool of a 5D. I've used dust-aid a bit and it's good so far, but there are still times that a wet clean is needed. Usually with bits on the very edge or corners.

Earlier this year I had a speck of what was almost certainly pollen stuck to my sensor. A solid black spot on the image. Tried dust-aid then wet clean loads of times with no luck. Tried dropping eclipse on to the speck and letting it soak, but still it stuck. I emailed a place to get a price for a replacement of the AA filter (the glass screen in front of the sensor which the dust sticks to). For some reason they quoted me a price of £700 to replace the entire sensor unit as opposed to just the filter. So I thought what the ....... if I'm going to have to send it away to have it replaced I may as well do what it takes. I got a wet swab and started to use the corner on just the speck. It was stuck good and firm. There was little wonder nothing had shifted it. I scrubbed harder until the glass squeaked. After a few seconds off it came. And no damage done. Desperate measures...

No matter how careful you are changing lens and handling the camera dust just finds a way in :-(

Yup, I got oil EVERYWHERE.
