Hi

Was doing a friend's wedding last weekend shooting on my Nikon D700 using a Duracell Pro Photo 600X 16GB CF card. All went well I shot hundreds of images and near the tail end of the day the card failed. I could no longer shoot or view images on the camera. I got an error message saying that the card was damaged or corrupted.

I tried to open the card in my PC but it was not being recognised. Around the third attempt a window opened asking me to format the card to enable me to use it but I ignored that message and did not format the card.

Has anyone else experienced a problem like this with any make of CF card and is there anything I can do to retrieve the images. ?
All images were shot in RAW ( NEF ).

I was thinking of using some free recovery software program but am unsure as to which is the best and whether it will be worthwhile considering the card is not being recognised in the computer

Normally it should show up as a Nikon D700 folder but it's not doing that but instead it seems to be under an external hard drive J but doesn't open

My card reader is working fine as I've tried it with other cards

Any data recovery companies worth trying ?

All comments and help will be much appreciated
