Hi all

I am new to this site & need a little help pls
I have retrieved over 300G of photo's from 3 computers & a laptop many of which the are folders triplicate +
As you can imagine I need to sort them out.
I need advice on on getting the correct program that will find all duplicates/triplicates etc & be able to differentiate slight difference in files &
sort them all into 1 folder for me.
Any help is appreciated
Thanx in advance

Are you Mac or PC?

If Mac try MacPaw Gemini.

This is not a trivial problem Adrian because you're interested in the content of the file, not just its size and date.
When I had a similar problem (but not 300Gb worth, about 60Gb) I searched the net for likely programs and I ended up using a Linux program.
Whatever program you try do not let the program automatically delete duplicates without looking at the files it finds first.
It took me about two weeks with manual intervention to ensure that I had at least one unique copy of each file.
Good luck with your quest.

Digikam.org, the powerful, free, open source photo manager (DAM), has a suite of excellent batch tools. It's 'Find Duplicates' tool allows you to set the degree of similarity, so it will find cropped, resized and adjusted versions too. You can even sketch an image and it will find pictures resembling the sketch. Or choose a reference picture, and it will find all similar or identical pictures within your chosen given similarity factor.

It has a field day on my time lapse folders. But you can choose folders for it to scan.

but its only for Linux unless you can provide a link for a Windows version.

Nope, look at the top of the digikam.org home page.

It does say it has bugs though!

Digikam does a whole lot of other things, so if you just want to use the duplicate finder, the Windows version of Digikam will probably work OK. But for occasional use you could also use the Linux version on a bootable USB stick.
