I thought they'd been here for years? I'm sure I remember seeing them in the eighties

They have, I remember seeing them years ago.

Looks like they closed down, and it's a reopening.

Dunkin' Donuts plans UK return after 20 years
Dunkin' Donuts, the US chain, has launched a second attempt to expand in Britain with a deal to open 50 restaurants in London over the next five years.

The chain, which pulled out of Britain in the mid-nineties as its sugary offerings and coffee failed to whet appetites in the UK, plans to develop 150 restaurants around in country.

Dunkin' Donuts said on Thursday it had signed agreements with two franchise groups - The Court Group and DDMG - to open restaurants in North and East London. It is also in advanced talks with other franchise partners.

Ah, see! All you youngsters....we were dunkin our donuts before you were even born....we just can't remember it very well :)

I used to sell Dunkin Donuts back in the late Eighties. If I remember correctly, the factory was in Alloa or there abouts.

Ahh Maybe it will work this time around. I used Dunkin Donuts to bribe my staff back in the day....

Hopefullly they will open down in the West Country but up against Krispy Kreme who are already here. Only last week I got their £15 dozen assorted with the extra dozen glazed deal. 24 all in. Lasted about 10 minutes for them to go at a meeting I chaired

I think Dunkin Donuts will struggle unless they can beat the KK offers by a good margin. The Gregg's doughnuts are awful!

i went to wh smith bought a pack (service station) thinking they would be around £8 was gob smacked at £15 didnt like the glaze around the whole donught too much in my opinion

DD was far better in the states but will have to see if there just as good as they are in the states i hope so

I only bought the 2 dozen of the KK doughnuts as they were on a buy 12 get 12 deal. No way would I buy at the WHS service area as they don't do many of the choices or offers.

Like you I find the DDUS doughnuts taste much better. The busiest DD I can remember in London was in Piccadilly just down from the all night Boots Pharmacy. Midnight after pub kick out time it was DD or Kebabs next door. In the case of a few of the gang - BOTH!!!

Made the night bus journey interesting!

I got all excited and tried a crispy creme - loads to choose from when I went in, but most of them were a bit disappointing close up - they seem all glamour and no content and so expensive. Asked the staff for guidance on choosing - tried a couple and its back to Greggs or the local bakers for me as the UK traditional ones are far better.

"Restaurants". Snigger.

Once, in Japan, I had an egg mayonnaise donut. Never able to find one again (though my Japanese is limited to hello, thank you and pointing so it wasn't an efficient search). Don't knock it until you try it.

Worst coffee i have had the misfortune of drinking came from a DD in Florida.
(cool story)
